Football NSW Referees Branch Celebrated at 2025 Annual Awards Night
Football NSW proudly honoured the dedication, commitment, and excellence of its refereeing community at the annual Football NSW Referees Branch Awards Night, held on Friday 3rd October at the stunning Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf.
The evening brought together members from across the state to celebrate the achievements of senior referees and acknowledge those who have contributed significantly to the game.
Among the distinguished guests were several Life Members of the Football NSW Referees Branch, including John Bowdler, Richard Baker, Simon Micallef, Con Diomis, Sandro Perticarini, Jim Nicolaou, and Kurt Ams, whose presence highlighted the legacy and strength of the refereeing community.
Two members were recognised for their longstanding commitment with milestone service awards:
- Wayne Crabb – 35 Years of Service
- Robert Nieuwenhuis – 15 Years of Service
The night also featured the presentation of several prestigious awards to standout referees and officials for the 2025 season:
- Bob Grabowski Members’ Member of the Year – Chris Young
- Dennis Micallef Assessor of the Year – Alex Glasgow
- Laurie Ang Rookie of the Year – Lucy Hungerford
- John Hague Most Improved Award – Nina Cortese
- U20s Referee of the Year – Rowan Fisher
- Assistant Referees of the Year – Amber Morris & Patrick Teleki
- NPL Men’s Referee of the Year – Jake Rose
- NPL Women’s Referee of the Year – Charlotte Flynn
These awards reflect not only individual excellence but also the depth of talent and professionalism within the Football NSW referee ranks.
