Hurstville City Minotaurs, one of the most decorated Over-45s teams in NSW, are set to make a triumphant return to the Champion of Champions final this Sunday at Valentine Sports Park, following a one-year absence from the big stage.

Representing Football St George, the Minotaurs are no strangers to success, boasting five titles in the prestigious tournament and earning a reputation as one of Football NSW’s most successful clubs in the competition’s history.

Standing between them and a potential sixth crown is Wakehurst FC from the Manly Warringah Football Association, led by player-coach Sean Lovett. The Northern Beaches side will be aiming to upset the seasoned champions in what promises to be a thrilling Over-45s showdown.

Minotaurs head coach Peter “The General” Sarikakis, a stalwart of the club and a familiar face in finals football, will once again lead a squad rich in experience and talent. Several key figures from their victorious 2023 Champion of Champions campaign—including Tom Pontidas, Dragan Pupovac, Peter Andrios, Sotirios Panagakis, Manuel Sarikakis, and former Socceroo Robbie Hooker—are expected to line up for Sunday’s clash.

The Minotaurs’ dominance in the competition over the past decade is unmatched, and their return to the final offers another opportunity to reinforce their legacy in NSW grassroots football.

Kick-off for the Over-45s final is scheduled for 4:45pm on Field 3 at Valentine Sports Park. Fans can expect a high-quality contest as the Minotaurs chase yet another chapter in their storied history.
