Technical Leaders Unite at Valentine Sports Park for 2025 End of Season Workshop
Football NSW brought the curtain down on the 2025 season on Wednesday evening with the annual End of Season Technical Director Workshop hosted at Valentine Sports Park.
The evening brought together representatives from 34 clubs and 63 technical leaders from across the state to celebrate the achievements of the season and share key insights from recent competitions.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Emerging Socceroos and Emerging Matildas Technical Reports, delivered by Football NSW Player Development Managers Phil Myall and Nadine Shiels.
Their in-depth reports provided a comprehensive analysis of the 2025 Emerging Championships, focusing on team and player performances, areas for development, and progress made since 2024.
Encouragingly, Football NSW teams demonstrated notable improvements across several key technical areas, with individual excellence recognised through multiple awards across both tournaments.
Myall and Shiels also outlined practical recommendations for Technical Directors to take forward into the 2026 season, supported by a soon-to-be-launched library of practices and educational resources.
Both Technical Reports will be further explored at the upcoming 2025 Coaching Conference, taking place at Valentine Sports Park on 22–23 November.
Coach Development Manager Christopher Adams and Club Technical Development Manager Neil Mann provided updates on Football NSW’s continued focus on raising coaching standards, advancing education pathways, and strengthening club technical programs ahead of the 2026 season.
The evening concluded with remarks from Head of Football Development, Edward Ferguson, who commended the strong engagement and collaboration across the state’s football community.
“The engagement across the evening showed the unity and commitment our football community has,” Ferguson said.
“This has been evident throughout the season in our Club Standards & Benchmarking results and through the incredible uptake of coach education courses with over 50 courses offered and 60% already at capacity.
“The insights shared tonight will help our technical leaders continue shaping environments that align with national talent identification and player development models. With the ongoing capability building within clubs, we are well-positioned to achieve our goals more NSW players representing national teams, signing professional contracts, and enjoying football at higher standards across every level.”
Football NSW extended its gratitude to the 37 clubs in attendance for their ongoing commitment to player and coach development throughout the 2025 season.
“Without a united approach to football development, a truly player-centric environment cannot be achieved,” Ferguson added.
