Football NSW has taken an exciting step towards celebrating the upcoming AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026, delivering its first Schools Activity Book session at Birchgrove Public School on Friday, 21 November.

The session marks the beginning of a new initiative that brings the tournament into classrooms through fun, football-themed learning experiences.

As part of the Sporting Schools program, Football NSW extended its delivery at Birchgrove Public School with an additional complimentary session, offering students the chance to engage with the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Schools Activity Book, an educational resource designed to teach children about the competition, the nations involved, and the excitement of international football.

From crosswords and colouring-in activities to team-based challenges and tournament facts, Football NSW coach Zac Bloem stepped into the role of a teacher for the day, guiding students through the activity book while sparking their curiosity about women’s football and the countries competing next March.

The initiative aligns with Football NSW’s broader plan to incorporate the AFC Women’s Asian Cup across all Sporting Schools programs, enriching the experience for thousands of young participants across the state.

Football NSW Program Manager – Sporting Schools, Tunahan Guner, said the new classroom component has been warmly received.

“We’re thrilled to bring the AFC Women’s Asian Cup to life in schools.

“Our coaches love stepping into the classroom and helping students learn about the tournament in a fun, interactive way. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect education with football and inspire the next generation of fans and players,” Tuna said.

This year, Football NSW delivered more than 200 Sporting Schools programs, reflecting its ongoing commitment to supporting schools and fostering participation in football.

Schools interested in incorporating the AFC Women’s Asian Cup activity session into their Sporting Schools program can access the activity book through the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Kids Hub– Football NSW and contact sportingschools@footballnsw.com.au to get involved.

As excitement builds ahead of the 2026 tournament, Football NSW looks forward to engaging even more students across NSW in the spirit of the Women’s Asian Cup.
