Round 3 Preview – League One Women’s
The Football NSW League One Women’s competition is in full swing as we head into Round 3, with teams starting to find their footing. This weekend features six exciting games, highlighted by the Match of the Round between Blacktown Spartans FC and Camden Tigers FC. Let’s dive into the preview!
Match of the Round: Blacktown Spartans FC vs Camden Tigers
Sunday 15 March, 5pm – Blacktown Football Park
Blacktown Spartans FC face Camden Tigers FC on Sunday afternoon. The Spartans aim to bounce back after their 2-1 loss to South Coast Flame FC last weekend.
Helena Daniele was among the scorers in their opening win and will be a threat from set pieces again. Up front, Makayla Crouch has been solid in both appearances so far and is ready to make an impact.
Camden Tigers FC were beaten 3-0 by Inter Lions FC at Majors Bay Reserve last Sunday. Ellie Lontis, a key player last season, will be needed to help the Tigers get something from this game.

South Coast Flame FC vs Inter Lions FC
Saturday 14 March, 7:15pm – Sir Ian McLennan Oval
South Coast Flame FC host Inter Lions FC to open the weekend. The Flame made it two wins from two with a 2-1 victory over Blacktown Spartans FC last weekend.
Emily Kostovski scored in back-to-back weeks and will hope to make it three consecutive games on Saturday. Coach Daniel Naumovski will aim to use this strong start as a platform for a top-four push.
Inter Lions FC bounced back in style with a 3-0 win against Camden Tigers FC. Jenny Hughes opened the scoring, combining well with Hannah Charak, and newcomer Amber Canado’s passing will be key for the team.
St George FC vs Blacktown City FC
Sunday 15 March, 4:30pm – Barton Park
St George FC host Blacktown City FC at Barton Park. The Saints have endured a tough start with losses to both A-League academies in their first two games. Wingers Danielle Rutstein and Abbey-Rose Cryer will be looking to make an impact.
Blacktown City FC fought valiantly in their 1-0 loss to Nepean FC last weekend. Naomi Carle and Layla Hamdan will be key to trying to secure another strong result.
Marconi Stallions FC vs SD Raiders FC
Sunday 15 March, 5pm – Marconi Stadium #2
Marconi Stallions FC face SD Raiders FC. The Stallions had their Round 2 match washed out and will be seeking a response after defeat in their first game. Players like Erinn Cleghorn and Kaitlin Kiparizov are crucial to their plans.
SD Raiders also had a weekend off due to the bye. Their youthful squad includes six debutants from Round 1, including 14-year-old Markie Robinson who scored their lone goal.
Nepean FC vs Newcastle Jets FC
Sunday 15 March, 5pm – Cook Park
Nepean FC host Newcastle Jets FC. The hosts continued their strong start with a 1-0 win over Blacktown City FC. Laura Tredinnick kept a clean sheet, while Ruth Wigley was a standout across the full match.
Newcastle Jets FC have impressed with two big wins from their opening games. Mikayla Crofton has scored five goals in under 180 minutes this season.
Bankstown City Lions FC vs Sutherland Strikers FC
Sunday 15 March, 7:15pm – Jensen Park
Bankstown City Lions FC take on Sutherland Strikers FC to close out Round 3. The Lions lost 4-2 to Newcastle Jets FC but took heart from leading twice in the first half. Karen Bennett scored twice and will lead the line at home.
Sutherland Strikers FC had their Round 2 match washed out. Ella Munro scored a hat-trick in their opening match, and alongside Lili Rosandic, they will be key to keeping up their unbeaten start.
Central Coast Mariners FC have the bye this round.
