After not one but two goal-of-the-season contenders last weekend, fans will be eager to see what Round 6 of the FNSW League One Men’s competition has in store.

With plenty of intriguing fixtures on this weekend’s slate, let’s dive into the preview.

Match of the Round: Hakoah FC v Macarthur Rams

Sunday 15 March, 4:30pm – Hensley Athletic Field

Hensley Athletic Field hosts the League One Men’s Match of the Round as Hakoah FC face Macarthur Rams on Sunday afternoon.

Hakoah had their unbeaten start to the season halted last weekend against Northern Tigers. Despite their early run of form, the side has only recorded one win so far this season, which came in Round Two against Bankstown City.

Since then, they have drawn with Blacktown Spartans and Central Coast Mariners before falling to the Tigers. Their best spell in that match came after half-time, and they will again rely on attacking threats Valentin Cuny, Cam Philpot and Eli Sheard.

Macarthur Rams, meanwhile, look set for a stronger 2026 campaign, collecting two wins and two draws from their opening five games. They shared the points with Newcastle Jets last weekend in a tough encounter at Lynwood Park.

With ten goals already scored this season, their attacking struggles from last year appear behind them. The return of captain Alex Gollan has helped solidify the defence, while Chan Yelchan, Olivier Beltran-Woodward and Emre Nizam remain key threats in attack.

The match will be available live and on demand via the Football NSW YouTube channel under the live tab.

Hills United v Hurstville Zagreb

Saturday 14 March, 5pm – Valentine Sports Park

Hills United come into this clash following a 3-2 win over Prospect United. While the side impressed with three first-half goals, including two from Byron Ginn, they allowed their opponents back into the game after the break.

A complete ninety-minute performance will be required if they are to secure another victory.

Hurstville Zagreb arrive after back-to-back defeats, most recently falling to Bulls FC Academy. Coach Valerio Silvestro will be seeking improved decision-making and game management from his squad.

Rydalmere Lions v Blacktown Spartans

Saturday 14 March, 5pm – Rydalmere Park

Rydalmere Lions host Blacktown Spartans in another key fixture. The Lions have recorded two wins and three draws this season but were held to a scoreless draw by Canterbury Bankstown despite holding a numerical advantage.

Blacktown Spartans bounced back from their first loss of the season with a dramatic last-minute winner against Dulwich Hill. Darcy Ellem has proven a difference-maker and will again be one to watch.

Bankstown City v Western City Rangers

Saturday 14 March, 6pm – Jensen Park

Bankstown City appear to have hit their stride following a convincing 4-1 win over Central Coast Mariners. Jonathan Grozdanovski starred with a hat-trick, including a spectacular second goal.

With 12 goals from five matches, Bankstown are among the league’s most potent attacking sides and have also improved defensively.

Western City Rangers should not be underestimated, however, having won their last three matches. Kye Hickman and Dimo Dimo were on target last weekend, while coach Warren Grieve also praised the performances of Kai Hickman, Shayden Sampow and substitute Rocco Fragale.

Bulls FC Academy v Prospect United

Saturday 14 March, 7pm – Sydney United Sports Centre

Bulls FC Academy returned to winning ways last weekend with a strong victory over Hurstville Zagreb. Coach Nicolai Muller was pleased with the team’s performance and game management.

Justin Cardozo will be a player to watch in this contest.

Prospect United nearly produced another dramatic comeback against Hills United, scoring twice in the second half after trailing 3-0. Pranet Singh and Marco Turpeinen found the net, but the side will aim for a stronger start this weekend.

Dulwich Hill v Northern Tigers

Saturday 14 March, 7:15pm – Arlington Oval

Dulwich Hill suffered late heartbreak again last weekend, conceding a stoppage-time goal against Blacktown Spartans. Despite the disappointment, there were positives from their performance against a strong opponent.

Jesper Webber, last week’s goalscorer, will be one to watch.

Northern Tigers remain the team to beat, sitting top of the table with five wins from five. Their defence has been particularly impressive, keeping four consecutive clean sheets, while Ally Brown’s goal last week highlighted their attacking threat.

Central Coast Mariners v Canterbury Bankstown

Sunday 15 March, 3pm – Pluim Park

Central Coast Mariners will look to respond after suffering their first defeat of the season against Bankstown City. A slow start proved costly in that match, conceding twice inside the opening ten minutes.

Canterbury Bankstown earned confidence from their scoreless draw with Rydalmere Lions. Despite playing with ten men, they created the better chances late on, with William Kounnas earning praise for his performance.

Newcastle Jets v Inter Lions

Sunday 15 March, 5pm – Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility

To conclude the round, Newcastle Jets and Inter Lions meet in a clash between two sides searching for their first win of the season.

The Jets showed improvement last weekend against Macarthur Rams but struggled to convert their chances. They will hope to turn their promising displays into points.

Inter Lions also showed signs of progress despite their defeat to Western City Rangers. Harry Rushton scored their goal in that match and has now netted two of the club’s three goals this season.
