Coach Education February Wrap-Up
In line with its ongoing commitment to technical development and the growth of football across the state, Football NSW has delivered a record number of coach education courses throughout the 2025/2026 coach education season.
With an expanded course schedule, the focus has been on strengthening football knowledge across the state, particularly within the crucial Skill Acquisition Phase. By investing in coaches completing the Foundation of Football and C Diploma courses, Football NSW continues to build a strong foundation for player development at the grassroots and youth levels.
February marked another major milestone in the delivery of the coach education program, with Football NSW hosting an impressive 17 courses across the state. This included five B Diploma courses, nine C Diploma courses, and three JDL Certificates, engaging more than 375 learners.
Courses were delivered across a wide range of locations, including the Valentine Sports Park, the Central Coast, Macarthur, and Albury. This statewide approach highlights Football NSW’s continued commitment to developing coaches and strengthening the game across both metropolitan and regional communities.
Looking ahead to March, attention will shift toward grassroots coach education as Football NSW and its 31 Member Associations prepare to roll out MiniRoos and Foundation of Football and Goalkeeper Certificate courses.
With record participation numbers expected across grassroots football, a new wave of coaches will soon enter the game—many volunteering their time to support the next generation of players. These courses play a vital role in equipping new coaches with the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to create positive football experiences for young players across New South Wales.

Additionally Football NSW delivered the first Goalkeeping B Diploma for 2026, with 13 goalkeeper coaches attending across two weekends. The course was instructed by David Plowright, John Crawley and Bryce Deaton. The course saw almost double the number of coaches involved compared to the previous edition, with representation from clubs across Football NSW leagues and NPL.
