Round 7 Preview – League One Women’s

Heading into Round 7 of the Football NSW League One Women’s competition, the ladder has started to take shape as teams look to position themselves for finals charges. It is a Super Sunday featuring six games to take place headlined by the Match of the Round between Bankstown City Lions FC and Central Coast Mariners FC. Let’s get onto the preview!


Match of the Round: Bankstown City Lions FC vs Central Coast Mariners FC

Sunday 12 April, 2:30pm – Jensen Park

Bankstown City Lions FC host Central Coast Mariners FC in the Match of the Round at Jensen Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions were beaten 2-1 in their contest against Blacktown Spartans FC on Easter Sunday last weekend.

Angelique Lynch has been a solid signing for the Lions thus far in 2026 and she will be keen to continue her form on Sunday.

Alongside her, both Chelsea Greguric and Karen Bennett have shown a nose for goals through the first six weeks.

Central Coast Mariners FC went down 3-0 against Nepean FC in their travels to Jamison Park last weekend.

Peyton Scollay has been a goal scoring weapon for the yellow-and-navy in the last few seasons and she might be called upon to find the back of the net in this clash.

It has been a tough fortnight for the Mariners who sit last on the League One Women’s ladder, so they will be keen to get back in the winner’s circle on Sunday.

Newcastle Jets FC vs Blacktown City FC

Sunday 12 April, 5pm – Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility

Newcastle Jets FC play host to Blacktown City FC at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility on Sunday afternoon.

The Jets were held to a 1-1 draw against a spirited Inter Lions FC in their game at Majors Bay Reserve on Easter Monday.

Isabella Walshe tallied her maiden goal for the campaign to equalise and use that as motivation for further goals going forward.

Coach Greg Hartge will look to his side to have their shooting boots on back at home after spurning a lot of chances in the draw.

Blacktown City FC battled hard in the 3-1 loss to Marconi Stallions FC down at Landen Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Rhea D’Mello continues to provide a big impact for Blacktown City FC after finding the back of the net in the loss and she is a key cog to them getting points from this.

The Blacktown City FC defence featuring Molly Reckless will need to be on point against the highest scorers in League One Women’s this season.


Sutherland Strikers FC vs Camden Tigers FC

Sunday 12 April, 5pm – Harrie Denning Centre

Sutherland Strikers FC take on Camden Tigers FC down at Harrie Denning Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts played out a 0-0 stalemate against South Coast Flame FC in last week’s Match of the Round.

Olivia Lysiak was impressive with her pace and pressing in the draw and she will put in another big shift on Sunday.

The calm work of Lara Coward in defence and Chantelle Symes between the sticks was a big part of the Strikers being the first side to take points from Kembla Grange.

Camden Tigers FC won their first game of the season beating SD Raiders FC 2-1 at Cirillo Reserve.

The win was a triumph for the Tigers youngsters. Young stars Jiselle Petrovski and Naomi Hart scored two good goals which makes for a bright future.

Coach Jamie Jones will be delighted to get their first three points and hopes this can be a springboard for his side for the rest of the season.


Nepean FC vs SD Raiders FC

Sunday 12 April, 5pm – Jamison Park

Nepean FC welcome SD Raiders FC down to Jamison Park for their crucial game on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts got back into the winner’s column with their 3-0 success against Central Coast Mariners FC.

Alyse McCutcheon scored her first for her new club in the result and she adds another potent weapon for coach Sean Payer.

Nepean FC sit third on the League One Women’s ladder thus far and they will want to make another statement on Sunday.

SD Raiders FC were beaten 2-1 in the M6 derby against Camden Tigers FC to kick off the Easter long weekend.

Attacker Taiana Almeida added highlight reel goal to her account when she equalised for SD Raiders FC and the Brazilian will be keen to help them gain three points on Sunday.

Defensive duo Jessica Neville and Layne Knight have been stout at the back which has helped the good start for SD Raiders FC.


Marconi Stallions FC vs Inter Lions FC

Sunday 12 April, 5pm – Marconi Stadium #2

Marconi Stallions FC take on Inter Lions FC in their contest at Marconi Stadium #2 on Sunday afternoon.

The Stallions made it back-to-back wins with their 3-1 success against Blacktown City FC on Easter Sunday.

Erinn Cleghorn has relished her attacking role this season and it has reflected in scoring three goals already for the campaign.

Promoted youngster Elena Lekov has featured in all five games for the Stallions this season and has settled into First Grade quickly.

Inter Lions FC played out an entertaining 1-1 draw against Newcastle Jets FC at Majors Bay Reserve on Easter Monday.

Jenny Hughes gave the side the lead with her maiden strike of the season and the Welsh wizard hopes to double her delight on Sunday.

The first six weeks have shown that coach John Di Biase has the side set up solidly and they will be a tough out for teams in 2026.


Blacktown Spartans FC vs St George FC

Sunday 12 April, 5pm – Blacktown Football Park

Blacktown Spartans FC face off against St George FC in their game at Blacktown Football Park on Sunday evening.

The Spartans won 2-1 against Bankstown City Lions FC and means the side has remained unbeaten for a month.

Alannah Putica scored the opener in the win and her swift feet has been a wonderful asset for the Spartans through six weeks.

Captain Sheiden Jabour produced the assist for the match winner and her leadership has helped them to second on the League One Women’s ladder.

St George FC had the bye refresh last weekend after their 6-2 loss to SD Raiders FC back in Round 5.

Jordan Baker opened her account for the season with a sublime double and last year’s Golden Boot will be a focal point for the Saints again.

Another option for St George FC is Eyerus Hillman who was dangerous flying down the wing in their game against SD Raiders FC.
