Football NSW clubs honoured at 2025 Good Sports Awards
Several clubs from Football NSW were acknowledged at the 2025 Good Sports Awards ceremony hosted at Parliament House, Canberra in late March.
Holroyd Rangers Soccer Club from Granville & District SFA was recognised as the NSW Good Sports Club of the Year, while Granville Waratah Soccer Football Club, also from Granville District SFA, was the runner up. The award is presented to a club that has adopted practices and strategies to improve the wellbeing of their members and reduce harm from alcohol and other drugs, inspiring positive change and building a healthier, more family-friendly club environment where everyone feels welcome.
Football South Coast club Tarrawanna Blueys won the National Good Sports Safe Transport Award, for prioritising member safety through safe transport practices that are aimed at reducing the risk of drink or drug driving.
“We’re proud that we’ve been part of the Good Sports program for more than 15 years and have a number of strategies in place to help our members get home safely,” said Club President, Michael Dent.
“Any major function we run comes with a clear set of guidelines, safe transport options and expectations about alcohol and behaviour. Our regular sponsor events include access to a courtesy bus and free call service for taxis.
“We also ensure all our premier events come with multiple safe transport arrangements. Our recent presentation night included door-to-door bus transport for members, in the ticket price.”
Randwick City FC (Eastern Suburbs Association) finished as runner up for the Good Sports Community Club Award.
