Strong NSW Representation in Football Australia AFC Futsal Level 2 Coach Program
As many as 10 emerging coaches from New South Wales were among participants in the Football Australia – AFC Futsal Level 2 course held at the Centre in Dural, joining coaches from across the country in an important step in their development journey.
Strongly represented by NSW-based coaches from clubs across Football NSW competitions, the group formed a key part of a national intake focused on lifting coaching standards and strengthening the futsal pathway within the state and across Australia.
The course forms a key component of the National Futsal Coach Development Project 2026, an initiative designed to identify, develop, and support coaches across the country as both high-quality practitioners and future coach educators.
Bringing together coaches from multiple Member Federations, the program continues to strengthen national alignment while also highlighting the strong contribution and presence of NSW coaches within the futsal coaching landscape.
A National Program with Strong NSW Impact
The Futsal Level 2 course is a central pillar of the broader national project, designed to enhance tactical understanding, coaching methodology, and session design capabilities.
Delivered in an engaging and practical learning environment, the course at Dural provided NSW coaches with a valuable opportunity to further develop their knowledge through both theoretical and on-court components aligned with contemporary futsal principles.
Throughout the program, participants were challenged to deepen their understanding of the game, with a strong emphasis placed on player-centred development and designing sessions that reflect match-day demands.
NSW Coaches Collaborating at Dural
The Centre in Dural provided an ideal setting for immersive learning, with NSW coaches working alongside peers from other states in a highly collaborative environment.
Coaches shared experiences from their respective clubs and regions across Football NSW competitions, engaging in meaningful discussion around best practice and modern coaching approaches.
This collaborative model is a key feature of the national program, helping to build stronger connections between Member Federations while reinforcing the important role NSW continues to play in coach development nationally.
Building Future Leaders in NSW Futsal
Beyond technical development, the program also focuses on preparing participants for future roles within coach education and leadership within their local NSW environments.
As part of the wider pathway, each coach will progress into opportunities to assist in the delivery of Level 1 courses, contribute to coach education resources, and deliver on-court sessions within their own NSW clubs and associations.
This dual focus on coaching and educator development is critical to expanding Australia’s futsal coaching workforce, with NSW coaches playing a key role in driving this growth locally.
Looking Ahead for NSW Coaches
Following their time in Sydney, the NSW cohort will continue their development journey through ongoing mentoring, practical delivery, and engagement with international futsal expertise.
The successful completion of the Futsal Level 2 course in Dural marks a significant milestone for these NSW coaches, as well as a positive step in the continued growth of futsal within the state.
As they return to their clubs and communities across New South Wales, they carry enhanced knowledge, stronger connections, and an important responsibility to continue developing players, coaches, and the broader futsal community.
