Countdown on for inaugural Football NSW Association Championships
Excitement is building across regional New South Wales as Mudgee prepares to host the inaugural Deploy Football NSW Association Championships, set to take place from Tuesday 7 July to Thursday 9 July at the state-of-the-art Glen Willow Regional Sports Complex.
The new three-day tournament marks a major milestone for grassroots football in the state, bringing together Associations from across NSW in a showcase of emerging talent, community pride and development pathways.
Football NSW has acknowledged the strong support from Mid-Western Regional Council in helping bring the event to life, with the partnership reflecting a shared commitment to community engagement, regional growth and youth participation in sport.
Mid-Western Regional Council Mayor Des Kennedy said the region is proud to welcome the next generation of footballers to Mudgee for the inaugural event.
“We’re thrilled to have the best up and coming young footballers in the state make their way to Glen Willow next month,” Kennedy said.
“The complex is designed for large scale tournaments having only recently successfully hosted more than 500 of the world’s best touch football players for the Asian Pacific Opens Touch Cup.
“I wish all players, officials, and supporters a fantastic time while they’re here and hope to see them return for this inaugural event again.”
Mudgee, one of regional NSW’s fastest-growing centres, continues to strengthen its reputation as a destination of choice for families and visitors, supported by expanding housing developments, a vibrant café culture, and strong commercial and lifestyle appeal. Its premier facilities, including Glen Willow, have positioned the town as an ideal host for major sporting events.
The Deploy Football NSW Association Championships will feature Boys Under 13 and Under 14, alongside Girls Under 14 and Under 15 competitions. Participation will be limited to grassroots and community club-registered players representing their local Association, ensuring a true celebration of community football.
Across the three days, the event will also deliver referee coaching sessions, coach education workshops, and player talent identification programs, with match officials sourced from local branches to further strengthen community development pathways.
Set to become a key fixture on the New South Wales grassroots football calendar, the inaugural Championships will shine a spotlight on the next generation of football talent from across the state, while reinforcing the strength and reach of community football in regional NSW.
