Lindfield FC secured the 2026 All Ages Women’s State Cup title after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Gymea United FC in Sunday afternoon’s final at Valentine Sports Park.

In an entertaining contest filled with quality set pieces and attacking moments, Lindfield’s early lead and second-half winner proved enough to overcome a determined Gymea United side.

Lindfield started brightly and created the first opportunity of the match in the eighth minute, with Molly Woods curling a free-kick narrowly past the left post.

Gymea United soon settled into the contest and began to create opportunities of their own, with Hannah Lupton driving forward before testing Lindfield goalkeeper Beth Tate with a strike that was comfortably dealt with.

The opening goal arrived in the 16th minute when Woods delivered another dangerous free-kick into the area. After the initial effort came off the crossbar, the ball was recycled back into the danger zone, allowing Hannah Turl to fire home and give Lindfield the lead.

Gymea United responded strongly from their own set piece, with a corner forcing Tate into an important save as they searched for an equaliser.

Their persistence was rewarded in the 36th minute when Jade Lockton produced a moment of brilliance, curling a stunning free-kick into the top corner to level the scores at 1-1.

Lindfield looked to restore their advantage before the break, with an effort from range forcing Gymea goalkeeper Michaela Davies into a comfortable save.

The reigning momentum swung back in Lindfield’s favour shortly after the restart, with the champions retaking the lead in the 47th minute. Lilly Reading delivered a wicked corner that bent directly into the net to put Lindfield ahead 2-1.

Gymea United continued to push for another equaliser and created a promising attacking move that ended with Alison Grant striking straight at Tate.

Lindfield remained dangerous from set pieces, with Woods continuing to threaten from free-kicks, but the Gymea United defence held firm to keep their side within reach.

The Lindfield defence stood strong during the closing stages, successfully managing Gymea’s late pressure to secure the victory and be crowned 2026 All Ages Women’s State Cup champions.
