Every Beat Matters: Football NSW Delivers 20 Life-Saving Defibrillators To Strengthen Football Safety Across NSW

Football NSW has taken another significant step towards improving cardiac preparedness across the state, with 20 defibrillators distributed to football associations and regional clubs through the Every Beat Matters campaign.

The distribution follows the successful inaugural Football NSW Association Championships held recently in Mudgee, where 16 defibrillators were presented to the participating associations, ensuring more football communities have access to vital life-saving equipment.

A further four defibrillators were allocated to regional clubs that applied through the initiative, helping strengthen emergency preparedness at local grounds across regional NSW.

The clubs receiving defibrillators were:

  • Cowra and District Soccer Club – Lachlan Association
  • Westside Panthers – Dubbo Association
  • Yerrinbool Bargo Soccer Club – Highlands Association
  • Narooma Football Club – Eurobodalla Association

The rollout forms part of Football NSW’s Every Beat Matters campaign, a statewide fundraising raffle designed to significantly improve cardiac preparedness across its network of associations and football clubs.

Supported by Toyota and St John Ambulance, the campaign will directly fund the purchase, maintenance and servicing of defibrillators across Football NSW’s footprint, ensuring more clubs are equipped to respond quickly and effectively to cardiac emergencies on and off the field.

Access to defibrillators across NSW football remains inconsistent, with many clubs currently under-equipped to respond to a cardiac incident at their venue.

The Every Beat Matters campaign highlights that cardiac events can happen at any time and can impact anyone involved in the game, reinforcing the importance of accessible, maintained and easy-to-use life-saving equipment at every football ground.

As part of the initiative, Football NSW will also establish a long-term defibrillator register to track equipment distribution, access and maintenance across all 636 clubs and 31 associations, strengthening ongoing safety and accountability across the football network.

Based on conservative participation estimates, the campaign aims to raise approximately $240,000. This will support an initial rollout of 65 defibrillators to clubs currently without access to the equipment, with priority given to regional and lower socio-economic areas.

Future allocations will be based on demonstrated need, club size and existing access, while the long-term model will support annual maintenance and continue expanding coverage across the entire Football NSW network.

The Every Beat Matters campaign is delivered in partnership with Toyota and St John Ambulance, combining community sport, road safety leadership and emergency response expertise to strengthen life-saving capacity across football in New South Wales.
