Talent Support Program (TSP) introduced at Football NSW
Football NSW would like to announce that the Talent Support Program (TSP) has been created to provide additional training (one session per week) for talented boys and elite girls aged 13-16 years from the NPL and Association Football Clubs.
Football NSW have reviewed the player development and identification pathways and the competitions that support it.
This has been driven through Football NSW’s own assessment and guided by feedback provided from our clubs and associations both individually and through the Associations Standing Committee.
Coinciding with our review, the FFA, as part of their ‘National Talented Player Pathway, has worked with and provided some funding to, State Federations across the country to implement bespoke Talent Support Programs (TSP) to provide additional training to our talented players.
The TSP will not be open to those players registered and playing with Hyundai A-League clubs.
This program will allow for elite players to train with and play friendly games against the best from across NSW.
It will supplement and not interfere with the club training environment to achieve 3-4 sessions/week for the talented players identified for each program.
Importantly, given that TSP will be delivered locally – through the establishment of several hubs across Metropolitan NSW (North, South, East and West) and within key areas of Country NSW – it will reduce the need for players (and their parents) to travel long distances to participate in a centralised program.
The implementation of TSP will see an increased number of talented players exposed to a high-quality environment and an increase in high quality training sessions and games in their local surrounds.
Further, it will enhance the process for talent identification and selection of representative teams and provide additional opportunities for benchmarking and identification for national teams.
Initially players will be invited from the 2017 State and State Titles teams.
Consultation with Club and Association Technical Directors will continue throughout the season allowing identified players to be added to the program.
With the introduction of TSP the Board has decided that for 2018 State Titles will only take place for the following age groups:
- Under 12 Boys
- Under 12 Girls
- Under 14 Girls
Under 12 Boys will provide identification opportunities for the following year’s TSP.
Under 12 and 14 Girls will provide identification opportunities for the Football NSW Institute Girls program, and Country Girls state team program.
