Record numbers flock Bathurst Cup

A record number of 49 teams participated in the 2018 Bathurst Cup which took shape at Proctor Park over the weekend as football was certainly the winner.

Teams from NPL 2 NSW Men’s Youth and AYL plus Capital Football along with Association Representative teams and Association Club teams took part in what was a great two days of football.

Saturday brought warm weather, and in typical Bathurst seasonal conditions, teams were met with a sharp change for Sunday with rain and a temperature drop.

Sutherland Shire FA took out the Under 13’s with a pulsating Grand Final against Woden Weston FC from Capital Football which was determined by penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal and extra time.

Camden Tigers flew the flag for the NPL 2 NSW Men’s Youth Competition taking out the Under 14 Boys with a 2-1 Grand Final win over Gladesville-Hornsby FA.

The Under 15 and Under 16 Competitions were played out by Football NSW Association Youth League clubs and showed that the 2018 AYL Competition will be quite competitive.

The Under 15’s was won by Sutherland Shire FA over Football South Coast FA 2-0 in a battle of the Southern neighbours.

In the Under 16’s, Macarthur FA and Football South Coast FA played out a fast-paced match with Macarthur FA taking the Titles with a 3-1 victory.

Overall, there was a total of 49 teams in the 2018 Bathurst Cup and despite construction of new fields at the Proctor Park Complex preventing the use of Fields 1, 2 and 3, the tournament was able to utilise six fields across the Proctor Park-Police Paddock precinct to accommodate over 100 matches across Saturday and Sunday.
