Round 19 Review – League One Women’s
Round 19 in the Football NSW League One Women’s competition was a dramatic edition, which saw plenty of late action in games that helped shape the ladder.
There were six games across a Super Sunday in the competition, headlined by the Match of the Round between Central Coast Mariners FC and Nepean FC.

Match of the Round: Central Coast Mariners FC 1 drew with Nepean FC 1
Central Coast Mariners FC and Nepean FC played out a 1-1 draw at Pluim Park on Sunday night.
The Mariners shook off conceding an early goal to get themselves back into the game. It was a superb strike from Isabella Beresford in the 59th minute for 1-1. Ava Moller had their best chance to earn the win.
For Nepean FC, it will feel like points dropped in their chase for a League One Women’s finals spot. Kellie Wilding gave them a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute with an Olimpico before they were pegged back.
Nepean FC had the first chance of the game. It was worked well around the box before Alyse McCutcheon prodded an effort wide.
The hosts answered back with an effort of their own. Ava Moller drove forward and unleashed a strike which Nepean FC keeper Laura Tredinnick claimed.
Nepean FC made it 1-0 in the 20th minute. It was a wicked curling corner from Kellie Wilding which floated into the top corner.
Peyton Scollay tried to get the Mariners back on level terms. She drove at defenders then had a shot which Tredinnick turned away.
Next, Eden Smith looked to give Nepean FC a two-goal advantage. She cut inside her defender and hit an effort straight at Mariners keeper Kyara O’Brien.
The Mariners kept searching for the equaliser. This time, Moller wriggled free from a defender and fired one straight at Tredinnick.
Nepean FC started the second half in quick fashion. Goalscorer Wilding drove into the box and drew a sharp save from O’Brien.
They kept up the pressure with an effort from McCutcheon, forcing O’Brien to make another big intervention.
Moller had another big chance to find the back of the net. She was released well and went for a low shot which was blocked for a corner.
Central Coast Mariners FC made it 1-1 in the 59th minute. It was a superb strike from Isabella Beresford which nestled into the corner.
Tiana-Louise Barton showed her set-piece quality again with a delivery that almost caught out the Mariners.
Nepean FC pushed for a winner. Substitute Gemma Morgan delivered a free-kick which was cleared, then Eden Smith had an effort swept away.
There was one final twist in this tale. The Mariners surged forward and it fell to Moller whose strike went straight to Tredinnick.
Neither side could find a winner and it ended as a point shared in a rainy contest in Lisarow.

Camden Tigers FC 2 defeated by SD Raiders FC 5
SD Raiders FC won 5-2 against Camden Tigers FC at Ron Dine Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
That is back-to-back wins for SD Raiders FC, who have found their groove recently and resumed their chase for top spot. Camden Tigers FC opened the scoring through Charlotte Greaney in the 19th minute from the penalty spot for 1-0.
SD Raiders FC equalised immediately through Taiana Almeida for 1-1, then completed the turnaround in the 28th minute for 2-1. Almeida then smashed home a penalty for her brace before Aoife Horgan headed home in the 44th minute for 3-1 at the break.
The visitors continued their goalscoring form in the second half. Markie Robinson scored in the 59th minute to make it 4-1, then Horgan added her second in the 64th minute for 5-1. Camden Tigers FC pulled one back in the 86th minute through Eliza Pereira to complete the 5-2 scoreline.
Marconi Stallions FC 1 defeated by Blacktown City FC 2
Blacktown City FC won 2-1 against Marconi Stallions FC at Marconi Stadium #2 on Sunday evening.
It is a result which has been building for Blacktown City FC after some strong performances and dents the Stallions’ Premiership chances. Neither side could find a breakthrough in a tight first half, and the teams went into the sheds at 0-0.
Blacktown City FC made it 1-0 in the 60th minute through Layla Hamdan, before Marconi Stallions FC levelled from the spot through Pene Bonovas for 1-1 in the 90th minute.
Both sides chased a winner in stoppage time, and it fell to Blacktown City FC in the 95th minute. A corner was swung in and Molly Reckless swept home for 2-1 to earn the visitors a huge three points.
Newcastle Jets FC 0 defeated by Inter Lions FC 3
Inter Lions FC were 3-0 winners against Newcastle Jets FC at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility on Sunday afternoon.
Inter Lions FC produced a strong performance which will please coach John Di Biase heading back down the highway. A pair of goals from Alyssa Walsh in the first half gave them a 2-0 lead at the break.
The Lions added a third in the second half from a set piece. Hannah Charak’s corner was turned in by a Jets defender to make it 3-0. Newcastle Jets FC tried to find a late goal, but Inter Lions FC held firm for all three points.
Sutherland Strikers FC 1 drew with South Coast Flame FC 1
Points were shared between Sutherland Strikers FC and South Coast Flame FC in a 1-1 draw at Harrie Dening Centre on Sunday afternoon.
It is a point which doesn’t help Sutherland Strikers FC in their chase for finals football, but they did draw first blood in this contest. Sutherland Strikers FC took the lead late in the first half through Paola Andrea Giraldo Uribe in the 43rd minute for 1-0.
The Strikers held their lead until late in the contest, but substitute Elif Erdogan was sent off for a second yellow card in the 92nd minute. South Coast Flame FC then had a last-gasp chance when awarded a penalty.
Sariah Wilson stepped up and slotted home the spot kick in the 97th minute to make it 1-1 and spark strong celebrations from the visiting bench. The point keeps South Coast Flame FC in third spot on the ladder.
Blacktown Spartans FC 2 defeated Bankstown City Lions FC 0
Blacktown Spartans FC won 2-0 against Bankstown City Lions FC at Blacktown Football Park on Sunday night.
The Spartans moved into the League One Women’s top four with a comfortable win against a dogged Lions outfit. Blacktown Spartans FC made it 1-0 in the 15th minute through Melina Visser and took that lead into the break.
Blacktown Spartans FC doubled their advantage in the second half through top scorer Gemma Woolley in the 62nd minute for 2-0. It was a fantastic pass from Helena Daniele to find the striker, who arrowed her effort into the bottom corner to round out a strong Spartans win.
