NAIDOC Cup – Coaches Expression of Interest
The NAIDOC Cup is an initiative of Football NSW (FNSW) and Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) supported by the NSW Football Legacy Program, a $10 million investment from the NSW Government to support football at all levels as a result of hosting FIFA Women’s World Cup matches in NSW. The NAIDOC Cup will see representative First Nations football teams from each Member Federation (FNSW & NNSWF) compete in matches over 2.5 days during NAIDOC Week. The tournament also involves opportunities for players, coaches, and referees to connect with culture.
FNSW will assess Expression of Interests and be in contact with coaches in due course.
Successful applicants for coaching positions are required to attend the 2024 NAIDOC Cup Player Trials in the April school holidays on Thursday 18th from 2 – 4pm at Valentine Sports Park, Glenwood. A coaches meeting will follow from 4pm to 5pm to finalise team selections.
The 2024 NAIDOC Cup will be held at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility, Speers Point, NSW from July 10th to July 12th.
To be eligible for the FNSW NAIDOC Cup team you must:
- Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
- Be a registered coach within the national PlayFootball registration system to a FNSW affiliated club
- Hold and provide paid Working with Children Check
- Provide Drivers licence or photo ID
- Provide CV (doesn’t need to be football related)
- Provide COVID-19 Certificate
- Play By The Rules (PBTR) – Child Protection and Safe Guarding (If you don’t have these, courses are accessed via www.playbytherules.net.au)
Trials will be conducted by NAIDOC Cup and TSP coaches at the mentioned locations NSW, please advise if you can attend any or all of the trial dates to help with the selection process. Coaches will not be considered for selection without completing this form.
FNSW and NNSWF will both select U14 & U16 female and male squads consisting of up to 16 players in each.
COACH APPLICATIONS CLOSE: COB Friday 22nd March, 2024
Tournament coaching expenses will be covered.
