Sharks take out 2008 Leader Charity Challenge

A double strike from current TeleChoice Premier League joint top scorer Brad Boardman, and goals from skipper George Souris, youngster Matthew Hall and Jimmy Bakis were more than enough to have kept Sharks coach Brian Brown?s 100% record in-tact with an emphatic display against their Super League opponents.
The day was used to support two very worthwhile Charity organisations, namely ?Relay for Life Cancer Research? and the Medical area of Sutherland Hospital.
Both organisations thanked both clubs for the opportunity this event gave them to raise much needed funds that will be used in helping the less fortunate members of the Shire community.
Seymour Shaw Park?s Complex Manager and long-time Sutherland Sharks faithful follower George Hurley was impressed with the way the afternoon ran.
?Volunteers were amazed at the generosity of spectators during the sale of raffle tickets during the games and the financial input exceeded expectations.
?The Sutherland Sharks will be arranging other fund raising events during the year in conjunction with the Sutherland St George Leader, with local shopping areas being the possible venues and player participation being the attraction.
?Spectators enjoyed a competitive game and with good attractive football on show with the Sharks running out 5-0 winners but sport was the winner on the day,? Hurley stated.
The Sharks have a crunch match this weekend as they entertain Sydney United in a top of the table clash at Seymour Shaw Park on Saturday while the Super League kicks off this weekend with St George taking on last season?s Champions Bonnyrigg White Eagles on Saturday at the Bonnyrigg Sports Club.
