Arrive Alive NSW Womens Premier League Round 2 Review
Round two of the 2008 Arrive Alive NSW Womens Premier League took place over the weekend.
NWS Koalas 5 (McLean, Cavanagh, Calvi, Stirouvski, own goal)
Central Coast Lightning 0
NWS Koalas continued on their winning way with their second five goal haul in succession. The Koalas beat the struggling Central Coast Lightning 5-0 at Pluim Park. Koalas certainly look as if they mean business this season.
Macarthur Rams 5 (Hain 3, Gragan, Ledbrook)
Penrith Nepean United 3 (Derooy, Rockall, Stewart)
Macarthur Rams bounced back from their surprise mauling at the hands of Marconi last week to put five of their own past Penrith Nepean United. In a high scoring affair Penrith managed to score three goals themselves before going down 5-3 to The Rams. The highlight of the match was a hat trick to Macarthur?s Stephanie Hain.
Marconi Stallions 1 (Camilleri)
Manly United FC 0
In a hard fought affair at Marconi Stadium the locals managed a narrow 1-0 win over the visiting Manly United FC. This was Marconi?s second win in a row and, even at this early stage of the competition, they appear to be one of the side?s to beat for premiership honours.
Sutherland Sharks 2 (Gibson, Elhusseini)
Sydney University 0
In the final match of the round Sutherland Sharks travelled away to Sydney University Oval. After last weekend?s truckload of missed opportunities against Central Coast Lightning the Sharks girls found their range against newly promoted Sydney University to chalk up a 2-0 win.
This win leaves Sutherland in third place, two points behind the undefeated Marconi and NWS Koalas sides. The Sharks meet The Koalas in next weekend?s round.
Some exciting match ups coming up in next weekend in round 3. Look out for our preview next Friday and our Football NSW match report next Monday morning.
