Interview with Sydney Olympic captain Mirko Jurilj

The towering centre-back has been in outstanding form for Olympic this season, forging a solid partnership with fellow stopper Michael Cindric at the back for the Sydney outfit.
Olympic have the second best defensive record in the league, with eight goals conceded in ten matches, second only to Brian Brown?s Sutherland Sharks who have conceded six in eleven.
FNSW: Mirko, it looks like the team is pretty unified, are you guys looking ahead to the rest of the season now?
MJ: Yeah, we?re hoping to go on a bit of a roll now. That?s two on the trot and I thought in the last couple of games we had interruptions there with the Easter break and the game against Bankstown being called off, so it disrupted a bit of our momentum. But now we?re slowly, slowly getting the momentum back and we won in the mid-week cup game which is good and we?re keeping clean sheets which is great.
FNSW: Another team effort by Olympic this weekend. What?s the secret to Olympic turning in performances like the one against Sydney United on a weekly basis?
MJ: I think we?re a close knit unit. We had a superb pre-season, we?re probably amongst the fittest teams in the competition, which helps. As footballers you need to be fit. Having good athletes and mobile personnel makes playing football so much easier. The pre-season camp where we had a couple of days in Narrabeen helped tremendously, so everything?s going OK at the moment, though we can?t get carried away.
