Division One Youth League Round 8 Review
There was a bit of movement on the tables this week, indicating that all is not yet set in concrete. There were a few surprises and some catch up game to either complicate or simplify the issue, depending on your point of view. Those who disagreed with my earlier comments that there is still quite a lot of action to happen might like to rethink their stance. It is stil far too early to make any predictions.
Club Championship
Blacktown Spartans have a lead of four points on the table after they split the points at seven apiece with second placed Gladesville Ryde Magic and Camden Tigers are third, five points further back, following their haul of thirteen points at ninth placed Rockdale City Suns who snared only four points from their Round 5 catch up matches with Mt Druitt Town Rangers.
Hurstville City Minotaurs are fifteen points further adrift after they took ten points from eleventh placed Stanmore Hawks while Fraser Park are fifth following their gain of nine points from seventh placed Sydney University who split the points at six apiece with Springwood in their Round 5 catch up matches.
Mt Druitt Town Rangers are sitting at sixth thanks to the nine points the bagged from tenth placed Hakoah and their seven points share from the catch up action. Eighth placed Springwood grabbed eight points from last placed Hills United and added the six points from the catch up matches.
Grade 13
Gladesville Ryde Magic have a lead of one point at the top of the table after they were beaten 1-0 by second placed Blacktown Spartans and Sydney University are two points back at third following their 3-0 success over sixth placed Fraser Park who were suffering their first loss for the season. Uni drew their catch up game with Springwood 1-1.
Camden Tigers are fourth after they were 3-0 winners over ninth placed Rockdale City Suns and Springwood are fifth following their 2-1 result over tenth placed Hills United and the catch up match draw.
Hakoah are occupying seventh spot after they came up with a 2-1 win over eleventh placed Mt Druitt Town Rangers who had beaten Rockdale City Suns 3-1 in the catch up match. Hurstville City Minotaurs are eighth after their very solid 8-1 win over last placed Stanmore Hawks.
Grade 14
Blacktown Spartans are the competition leaders on goal difference following the 3-2 loss to second placed Gladesville Ryde Magic while Mt Druitt Town Rangers are third after they downed last placed Hakoah 5-0 and collected a 3-2 catch up match win over Rockdale City Suns. Camden Tigers are in fourth position thanks to a 2-1 win over the ninth placed Suns.
Fraser Park are fifth following their 3-0 victory over eighth placed Sydney University who played out a scoreless draw with Springwood in catch up action. Hurstville City Minotaurs are holding down sixth place after they downed tenth placed Stanmore Hawks by the odd goal in five.
Springwood are sitting at seventh thanks to a 1-0 win over eleventh placed Hills United and the point they gathered in from the catch up game.
Grade 15
Unbeaten Blacktown Spartans have a lead of five points on the table after they came up with a 4-2 victory over ninth placed Gladesville Ryde Magic while Hurstville City Minotaurs are second following their 6-0 result over last placed Stanmore Hawks.
Fraser Park are in third position thanks to their 2-0 win over seventh placed Sydney University who collected another point from their catch up match with Springwood which finished at 0-0. Camden Tigers are placed fourth following their 1-1 draw with eleventh placed Rockdale City Suns who produced the same scoreline in their catch up match with Mt Druitt Town Rangers.
Hakoah are fifth after they were 2-0 winners over tenth placed Mt Druitt Town Rangers and Springwood are sixth following their scoreless draw with eighth placed Hills United.
Grade 16
Stanmore Hawks have a lead of one point at the top of the table thanks to a 2-1 victory over third placed Hurstville City Minotaurs while Mt Druitt Town Rangers are second after they downed eleventh placed Hakoah 5-0 and lost their catch up game with Rockdale City Suns 2-0.
Blacktown Spartans are fourth following their scoreless draw with fifth placed Gladesville Ryde Magic and sixth placed Rockdale City Suns lost 2-1 to ninth placed Camden Tigers for whom this was their first win for the season.
Fraser Park are seventh after they were 3-1 winners over eighth placed Sydney University while last placed Hills United held tenth placed Springwood to a 1-1 draw. Springwood took the points from the catch up game with Sydney University thanks to a 3-1 scoreline.
Grade 18

Mt Druitt Town Rangers are in fourth place after they downed eleventh placed Hakoah 2-1 while Sydney University are fifth following their 2-0 success over seventh placed Fraser Park and their 2-0 win over Springwood in catch up action.
Stanmore Hawks are holding down eighth place after their 1-1 draw with tenth placed Hurstville City Minotaurs and Hills United are ninth following their 2-0 scoreline over last placed Springwood.
