Manly Allambie FC Pink It Up for McGrath Foundation
The Northern Beaches based side will wear pink shirts, shorts and socks on a fun filled day starting with the club?s juniors at 8:30am before the Reserves and First Grade line up against Brookvale FC at 1:00pmand 3:00pm respectively.
A range of activities have been set up including face painting and jumping castles for the kids as well as the opportunity for supporters to try their luck, through a gold coin donation, against Mark Bosnich in a penalty shootout competition. Allambie FC Reserve?s skipper Graham White believes the event will attract over 300 supporters and is encouraging everyone interested in supporting a worthy cause to join the festivity.
?With prizes such as an official pink shirt signed by Sydney FC and Lucas Neil, as well as Mark Bosnich on hand, the day is shaping up to be fantastic,? said White.
?Kids will also have the chance to score a free Sydney FC poster with optional donation going towards the McGrath Foundation,? he added.
The McGrath Foundation aims to raise funds to place breast care nurses in rural and regional Australia, while increasing breast awareness in young women. Along with Pink Finance, Brookvale Hotel and Love Football on their side, the north Sydney outfit have plenty of support towards this magnificent cause.
Sydney FC strike weapon Chris Payne and Manly United young gun Joey Gibbs will be on hand to sign autographs and contribute their knowledge of the game to all in attendance.
The idea of having an all out pink day was thanks to Manly Allambie FC?s First Grade captain, Courtney Naylor after he saw Oldham Athletic (England?s Coca-Cola League One Championship team) go all pink in March of this year.
?I knew it would be a fantastic way to incorporate the same theme with us [Manly Allambie FC],? he said.
?After speaking to the coach and running it by the association, the whole team got behind it.
?It?s just an excellent way to create awareness for such a wonderful cause,? he added.
The idea came in conjunction with a player, Mikey Chapman, 30, who lost his mother, Dianne through breast cancer a decade ago.
?It was a very tough time for me when my mother passed and I am extremely happy the players and the club are helping create awareness for this disease,? said Chapman.
?My mum used to support breast cancer awareness campaigns and was actively involved in many fundraisers such as the Pink Ribbon Ball.
?Having two sisters myself, I want to make sure they and all women are kept safe from breast cancer and other cancers they are not as commonly known,? he added.
The all pink day will be held at Manly Allambie FC?s home ground at Millers Reserve, off Condamine Street and Campbell Parade.
Be sure to take part of this amazing fun filled day and help support breast cancer awareness, the McGrath Foundation and the health of women across Australia.
