Strong NSW contingent in Australian Women?s Under 17 training squad

A number of the rising youngsters have developed via participating in the successful Women?s competitions currently being run under the Football NSW umbrella.
Teigan Allen (Penrith Nepean United/NSWIS), Caitlin Foord (Sutherland Sharks/NSWIS), Alanna Kennedy (Macarthur Rams/NSWIS), Sharni Brown (NWS Koalas), Jessie Wharepouri (Manly United) and Rachael Soutar all played a role in Football NSW?s run competitions for women.
The Marconi Stallions have four players that have come through their ranks that are still playing there or have gone to play with the NSWIS with Nicole Bolger, Alexandra Huynh, Heidi Makrillos and Candace Sciberras all hailing from the Fairfield based squad.
Marconi Stallions Football Manager Paul Saliba was delighted with each girls progress at hitting the heights of becoming a future Matildas star.
?We are excited that these ladies have been rewarded for their talent and hard work.
?We are extremely proud of their achievements thus far and we are confident that they will follow in the footsteps of former Marconi players that went on to represent the Matildas.?
Their selection is testament of our Club?s commitment to Football development across both genders.
Westfield Women?s Under 17 coach and former NSL player Robert Hooker selected 34 of Australia?s best young women with the hope of fielding the strong squad possible for the up and coming ASEAN Cup in Myanmar in November.
?The squad has some of the best technically gifted young players that Australia has produced,? said Head Coach Robert Hooker in an official FFA Media statement.
?It is the start of the serious build up to the ASEAN Cup in November.?
