State Titles kick off in great style despite mixed weather conditions

Met South have taken the advantage after day one with tight wins over Country Southern and Met Far South.  The evening finished in spectacular fashion when the brilliance of the lighting at Glen Willows was matched only be the ferocity of the wind and rain which turned up just in time to remind everyone that this game is played in all conditions.  Tuesday is looking much better weather wise and I am sure everyone is thankful for that.
With perfect conditions greeting the Grade 12 Boys teams at a very picturesque Vic Zealand Oval in Shoalhaven Heads it was Met West and Met East setting the pace with both teams winning their opening two matches, Met West against Met Far South in grand style and then a very hard fought win over a tenacious Country Southern.  Met East opened with a tight win over Met Far South followed up by a very polished performance to take care of Met Far North.  Once again the weather was fickle as after a great start to the day, we had rain during the break and a very cold and windy afternoon.  I should make mention here of the great work Jenny Miller and her band of volunteers who not only provided a footballing showpiece of a venue but ensured everything ran like clockwork all day.
The weather was far nicer to the 12-14-16 Girls in Dubbo and the young ladies turned on a feast of football in appreciation of their good fortune.  In the 12 Girls it is Met South and Met West leading the way after Met West beat Country Riverina and Country Southern whilst Met South also gained maximum Day One points with wind over Met Far South and Met North.  The 14 Girls competition is being highlighted by the great form of the Country Western ladies who have had two great wins over Country Southern and Metro West to lead the pack after Day One.
Day Two will no doubt bring us more great football and we are looking forward to nicer weather for our talented young footballers.
