Quake girls march on with 4-1 win over Raiders

The game had only just started when the Quake?s Zoeie Redman broke through and neatly tucked her shot low past the keeper to make it 1-0 in the first minute of play.
Campbelltown almost extended their lead when Zoeie Redman found Sheridan Kuiper unmarked on the edge of the area but her effort slid past the keeper, struck the post and was scrambled away.
The Quake were well organised in defence and were offering few chances for the Raiders who were contesting hard for every opportunity that came their way.
Patricia Charalambous was elusive up front and halfway through the first half forced a fine block from Quake keeper Brigitte Hunt.
The Quake went further ahead on 11 minutes when Sheridan Kuiper brought the ball down court but Raiders keeper Lauren Biss saved the shot with her feet,  the ball rolled free and as players and keeper converged on the ball Sheridan was first to get there to bundle it over the line.
The Raiders tried to reply but Patricia Charalambous shot was saved well by Brigitte Hunt in goal.
The Quake assumed control of the game when Madison Strutt received the ball out on the left touchline and did very well to hit an inch perfect shot past the keeper from the tightest of angles to make the score 3-0.
Needing a goal the Raiders fought back and Brigitte Hunt came out well to block a shot from the Holly McPherson and Jessica Elliott could only watch as her freekick hit the crossbar and went over.
Moments before half time Brigitte Hunt came out to block a shot from Lisa Meduri and Raiders keeper Lauren Biss made a fine save to deny the Quake?s Lucy Chapman.
In the first minute of the second half the Raiders got the lifeline they needed when they were awarded a freekick on the edge of the area. Patricia Charalambous stepped up and drilled an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net to make it 3-1.
The goal gave the Raiders girls the encouragement they needed as enjoyed a good spell of possession and chances. Holly McPherson shot just wide, Charalambous looped the ball over the keeper and brushed the post and Lisa Meduri had a goalbound shot deflect off the keeper and away for a corner.
The Quake weathered the Raiders attacks and started to wrestle possession and chances back in their favour. Lauren Biss came out well to block a shot from Madison Strutt, Elizabeth Ralston fired a shot just wide, Zoeie Redman saw her effort strike the post and Madison Strutt had a shot deflected away by keeper Lauren Biss for a corner.
The Quake got their fourth goal to effectively seal the game when Zoeie Redman passed the ball to Elizabeth Ralston who brilliantly slotted the ball past the keeper from a tight angle to make it 4-1.
The Raiders came close when Emma Sloan did well to beat a couple of defenders and lay the ball off to Jessica Elliott, her cross found Patricia Charalambous but her shot went wide of goal.
The Quake?s fourth goal took the sting out of the game as the Raiders fought hard but could not break the Quake?s defensive formation.
Towards the end Bianca Adattini made a nice run and her flick looped up and drew another good save from Lauren Biss in goal.
In the end the Quake were too strong for a Raiders side that fought hard the whole game but could not match it with the Quake girls who sit comfortably in second place on the ladder and well in contention for honours this season.
