Division One Youth League The Finals Series

This was an important date for everyone concerned and the quality of the play more than matched the demands of the occasion.
Grade 13
Major Semi Final
Mt Druitt Town Rangers are the 2010 Premiers in this age group and they had taken all the points from the competition clashes with second placed Stanmore Hawks, winning 4-1 in the first round and then 2-0 the second time around.
That form held true this week when the Rangers claimed the first place in the Grand Final with a 2-0 result and that has forced the Hawks into the Preliminary Final.
Minor Semi Final
Fourth placed Gladesville Ryde Magic had beaten third placed Fraser Park 2-1 when the met in the first round of the competition and then the second round match was a 1-1 draw.
On this occasion Fraser Park were just a bit too hot as they took out the game with a 4-1 scoreline to earn a place in the Preliminary Final while Magic have bowed out of the finals series.
Grade 14
Major Semi Final
Mt Druitt town Rangers had claimed the crown as Premiers but they had lost their first round encounter with second placed Hurstville City Minotaurs 2-0 and then the second round clash was a 3-3 draw.
This time there was very little between the teams as the score was locked up at 1-1 when the final whistle sounded and so extra time was required. However, when neither team could find the back of the net, it was necessary to resort to penalty kicks to determine the winner. When the dust had settle the Minotaurs had come up trumps with a 4-3 win in the shootout and that has given them the direct path to the Grand Final while the Rangers will play in the Preliminary Final.
Minor Semi Final
Fourth placed Fraser Park had posted a 1-0 win over third placed southern branch when they met in the first round of the competition and then Southern had claimed the second round points with a 2-1 result.
This time around Fraser Park came to the fore once again when they were 1-0 winners and that has put them through to the Preliminary Final while Southern have bowed out of the finals series.
Grade 15
Major Semi Final
Hakoah had earned the title as Premiers and they had taken the first round points from second placed Stanmore Hawks with a 4-0 result but then the Hawks had squared the ledger with a 1-0 second round win.
On this occasion the Hawks got the better of the Premiers when they were 1-0 winners and that allowed them to claim the first spot in the Grand Final while Hakoah will play in the Preliminary Final.
Minor Semi Final
When second placed Fraser Park faced fifth placed Springwood United in the first round of the competition the score was a 2-2 draw and then the mountain men had taken out the second game with a 3-1 scoreline.
In this week?s match the teams were locked together at 1-1 at the final whistle and when they both failed to add to their tally during extra time it was off to the penalty spot to find a winner. Here, springwood proved to be better as they won the shootout 5-4 to earn a place in the Preliminary Final. Fraser Park have fulfilled their commitments to the finals series.
Grade 16
Major Semi Final
Second placed Fraser Park had beaten Premiers Camden Tigers 2-0 when they met in the first round of the competition and then the Tigers were 2-0 winners in the second round.
This time Fraser Park were able to edge out the Tigers when they were 1-0 winners and that has given them the direct passage to the Grand Final while Camden will now compete in the Preliminary Final.
Minor Semi Final
Third placed Mt Druitt town rangers had lost 2-1 to fourth placed Hurstville City Minotaurs when they faced off in the first round of the competition and then Hurstville claimed the second round points by repeating that scoreline.
The Rangers may feel that they have squared the ledger with a 5-2 result in this week?s match and they have earned a place in the Preliminary Final while Hurstville have bowed out of the finals series.
Grade 18
Major Semi Final
Camden Tigers are the 2-10 premiers and they had lost the first round encounter with third placed Fraser Park 2-1 and then the second match had ended in a 2-2 draw.
This time Fraser Park were just a bit too hot as they posted an impressive 3-0 result to take the first spot in the Grand Final while the Tigers will play in the Preliminary Final.
Minor Semi Final
Second placed Gladesville Ryde Magic were 3-1 winners over fifth placed Mt Druitt Town Rangers in the first round of the competition and then they completed the double with a 1-0 second round victory.
That form held true this time as magic registered a 2-1 success that has put them into the Preliminary Final and forced the rangers to bow out of the finals series.
