Round 9 Preview: NSW Womens Premier League

Round 9 of the Women’s Premier League competition this weekend sees six mouth-watering clashes that is sure to be a must watch for any keen football fan.
Although Sydney has been hit with a deluge of rain in the last 24 hours, the football will be flowing as finals series positions will be at stake in what promises to be a round not to be missed.

Blacktown Spartans (9) v Marconi Stallions (2)
Blacktown Football Park – 3pm
Match of the Round for round 9 sees the always tricky Blacktown Spartans host the high flying Marconi Stallions in what will be an important clash for both clubs.
The Spartans coached by Stephen Neligan will be looking to getting back to winning ways after suffering a 2-0 loss to Manly United last week will no doubt have their work cut out against the Stallions who trounced Sutherland Shire Football Association 11-0.
Robert Pierce will be hoping his attacking playmaker stars Helen Petinos and Nicola Bolger will be ones to watch out for as the Fairfield side hope to bring the three points back home.
It won’t be easy though as the Tangerines will look at every angle in stopping the Stallions succeed in their quest for the points.
CC Mariners Academy (10) v Inter Lions (6)
Pluim Park – 1pm
The tenth placed Central Coast Mariners Academy host the sixth placed Inter Lions at Pluim Park with kick off set for 1pm.
The Mariners Academy, under the watchful eye of Mark Jones, will want to improve on their performance after what was a tough day in the office against the Illawarra Stingrays while the Inter Lions were vocal as ever after hard fought 2-1 victory over Sydney University.
The Lions will certainly look towards the wizardry of Catherine Cannuli who, on her day, can be very destructive.
North West Sydney Koalas (3) v Northern Tigers (11)
ELS Hall Park 2 – 3pm
The third placed North West Sydney Koalas entertain the eleventh placed Northern Tigers at ELS Hall Park 2 on Sunday.
The Gerry Gomez coached side will no doubt be wanting the win after its 2-2 derby draw to Northbridge FC last weekend with Chloe Logarzo tipped to have a big match.
Eric Daly’s Tigers will no doubt be wanting to put more of a performance in as they suffered an 8—0 loss to league leaders Macarthur Rams last weekend – their thoughts are firmly focused on the job at hand with a better performance heeded by their coach in what will be a decisive match for the Tigers who hope a good display will spearhead the club’s campaign for more victories.
Sutherland Shire Association (12) v Northbridge FC (8)
Harrie Denning Centre – 3pm
Harris Denning Centre will play host to the struggling Sutherland Shire Association currently at the foot of the ladder taking on Northbridge FC.
The youthful but every hungry Sharks can only get better though and will be pushing hard for a better display as they take on an always tricky Northbridge FC outfit.
Macarthur Rams (1) v Illawarra Stingrays (4)
Lynwood Park – 3pm
This hotly contested match will be a classic and one to possibly be remembered at Lynwood Park as current League leaders Macarthur Rams take on the Illawarra Stingrays.
This match should be an absolute cracker as Shane Duffy’s unbeaten side really setting the pace as one of the teams to beat for 2013.
Sydney University (5) v Manly United (7)
Wilson Park – 3pm
Sydney University face Manly United this Sunday at Wilson Park as both teams lock horns.
The University side will want to get back to winning ways after suffering a 2-1 loss to Inter Lions while Manly United, will be wanting more of the same after their 2-0 win over the Blacktown Spartans.
