Socceroos headline VSP friendly with Manly United
Football NSW’s headquarters at Glenwood was the scene as IGA National Premier Leagues NSW Mens 1 club Manly United enjoyed their final friendly hit-out on what was a rainy Wednesday evening Craig Midgley’s men went toe to toe with Holger Osieck’s Socceroos side.
The final result was 6-1 but the opportunity the Manly United players received playing against the likes of players such as Lucas Neill, Archie Thompson, Dario Vidosic, Michael Thwaite and Jade North to name a few was priceless.
Goals to Craig Goodwin, a brace from Dario Vidosic and a hat-trick from Melbourne Victory ace marksman Archie Thompson cancelled out Manly United’s only goal which came in the form of current red hot midfielder Matthew Sim.
It was to be the final time Osieck had a closer look at this specific Hyundai A-League themed squad before he made his official announcement of his 26-player squad for the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers against Japan (4 June – Saitama), Jordan (11 June – Melbourne) and Iraq (18 June – Sydney).
