Well, here we are with only three weeks to go in the competition and we still have a large number of questions about which teams will play in the finals series and which will miss out. The matches over the past weekend have only posed more questions without providing any real answers but then that is what football at this level should be about – highly skilled and extremely competitive.
IGA National Premier League NSW Men’s 1 – Overview

Sutherland Sharks and Marconi Stallions had split the first round points with each club taking eight points from the clash but this time the Sharks made off with fourteen points from the encounter.

Blacktown Spartans claimed twelve points from their first round engagement with Central Coast Mariners ad history repeated as the Spartans bagged another twelve-point haul.

Blacktown City pocketed fourteen points last time they faced Sydney United 58 and thy very nearly did it again as they took thirteen points from the six matches.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers collected ten points from their first round matches against Manly United but this week the clubs hared the spoils at nine apiece.

South Coast Wolves bagged twelve points when they met Bonnyrigg White Eagles last time around but on this occasion the

Sydney Olympic collected thirteen points from their first round encounter with Rockdale City Suns clubs claimed an equal share of the spoils when they both went home with nine points.

Football NSW Institute had taken nine points from their first round clash with South Coast Wolves and this time the clubs shared the points at seven apiece.

IGA National Premier League NSW Men’s 1 – Club Championship

Sutherland Sharks and Marconi Stallions had split the first round points at six apiece and this time the Sharks grabbed ten points from the day to remain at the top of the table with a margin that now stands at ten points and the Stallions are still in tenth position.

Blacktown Spartans and Central Coast Mariners each took six points from the day when they met in the first round but this time around the Spartans secured nine points from the encounter to remain in second spot while the Mariners are still eleventh.

Blacktown City grabbed ten points from their first round clash with Sydney United 58 but while City still took the majority of the points they had to settle for seven points this week. That leaves City in third place and United are still fourth.

Manly United secured seven points from their last meeting with APIA Leichhardt Tigers and this time Manly went one better when they pocketed nine points from the clash. They have held onto fifth place and The Tigers have dropped back one place to seventh.

Bonnyrigg White Eagles and South Coast Wolves shared the points last time around with each club taking six points from the day and that is exactly what happened again this week, allowing Bonnyrigg to move up one place to sixth and leaving the Wolves at ninth.

Sydney Olympic claimed nine points when they last saw Rockdale City Suns and this week that outcome was pretty much the same as Olympic grabbed eight points to retain eighth place and the Suns are still at the foot of the table.

IGA National Premier League NSW Men’s 1 – Grade 12

We still have a situation in which the top three teams will fight it out for the title over the next three weeks while the next four teams will be doing battle for one of the other two places in the finals series.

Blacktown Spartans came into this match as the competition leaders by a single point and they had taken points from the fifteen matches since their only loss. They were 3-1 winners over twelfth placed Central Coast Mariners when the teams met in the first round. While it was a bit closer this time, the Spartans still took the points with a 1-0 win to remain in the top spot and extend their lead to three points while the Mariners are still at the foot of the table.

Blacktown City started the day in second place and they had also suffered only one loss all season. Sydney United 58 were in fifth place and they had not lost in their last seven matches. City had beaten United 2-1 when they faced each other in the first round. Given that information, it was hardly a surprise when this week’s match ended in a scoreless draw. That has pushed City back to third place and United have dropped back to sixth.

Manly United arrived at this match in third position and they are having and interesting season. After winning their first ten matches Manly have posted two wins four draws and only tow losses. APIA Leichhardt Tigers were only two points outside the top five in sixth position and they were coming off a last-match loss. The first round points had gone to Manly after they won 2-0 and they completed the double this week with a 2-1 result thanks to a double strike from T. Fay while J. Ress found the net for the Tigers. That has allowed them to climb into second spot while the Tigers are now seventh and three points away from the top five.

 

South Coast Wolves were in fourth place when the first whistle sounded and they had posted six wins from their last eight games while Bonnyrigg White Eagles were eighth with losses coming from two of their last three matches. The Wolves were 2-1 winners in the first round and they claimed the points again this week with a 3-0 result The Wolves are still fourth and Bonnyrigg have held onto eighth place.

Sutherland Sharks began the day in seventh place on goal difference and they were only two points outside the top five. They had recorded three wins and two draws from their last six games. Marconi Stallions were in ninth place and they had three draws to show for the last nine outings. However, the Stallions had won the first round clash 2-1. However, the Sharks were able to square the account this week when they were 5-0 winners and that has taken them up to fifth place and dropped the Stallions back to tenth. The goals in this match were scored by J. Mitsoulas (2), J. Jenicek, D. Deidda and C. Talbot.

Rockdale City Suns kicked off this week’s match in tenth place and they were up against eleventh placed Sydney Olympic with the teams being separated by a single point. Both teams had lost their last two games. The Suns took the first round points with a 2-0 result but the tables were turned this time when Olympic came up with a 2-0 result. The goals came from J. Michalopoulos and L. Volcevski. That has left Olympic at ninth and pushed the Suns back to eleventh.

It looks as though the top three will fight it out for the title and the next three teams will all be looking to secure places in the play-offs.

Sutherland Sharks were three points clear at the top of the table at kick-off time and they had seven wins and two draws to show for their last nine games. Marconi Stallions were in sixth place, only one point outside the top five, and they had won their last two matches. The Sharks were 6-1 winners when the teams faced off last time. The Sharks retained their top spot when they produced a 5-1 victory this week while the Stallions have slipped back to seventh. Sutherland’s goals were scored by D. Papoulias (2), J. Papagelis, J. Skotadis and C. Jones while C. Cuelho netted for the Stallions.

The first round points went to the Spartans when they won 3-1 and they went on with the job with a 3-0 result this time. The Spartans are still second and the Mariners have remained at tenth. .

Manly United were in third place at kick-off time and they had won seven of their last eight games while APIA Leichhardt Tigers were ninth and they had lost their last three matches. The first round points had gone to Manly with a 2-1 result and they completed the double with another 2-1 victory this time. Scoring a double for Manly in this match was K. Conna while A. Costa scored for the Tigers. Manly are still placed third and the Tigers are ninth.

South Coast Wolves kicked off this match in fifth place and they had recovered from a run of two losses by claiming the three points last week. They were up against eleventh placed Bonnyrigg White Eagles who had won only one of their last three games. The Wolves were 3-1 winners last time the teams saw each other and they bagged the points again, this time with a 4-0 scoreline. That has left Bonnyrigg at eleventh.

The Wolves were also due to meet the twelfth placed Football NSW Institute who the Wolves had beaten 6-0 in the first round. This time the Wolves posted a 2-1 victory to retain fifth position while the Institute are still twelfth. The goals for the Wolves came from M. Bimbilovski and J. Della Vedova and L. Ferreira netted for the Institute.

Sydney Olympic arrived at this match in eighth place, only three points away from the top five, and they had lost their last two matches while Rockdale City Suns were thirteenth and they had won only one match so far. Olympic had claimed the first round points with a 5-0 victory. This week the match ended in a scoreless draw, leaving both teams where they were on the table.

It looks as though only one of the top two can take out the title with the third placed team having an outside chance. Then there are five teams engaged in the battle for the remaining two places in the finals series.

Sutherland Sharks began the day as the competition frontrunners by a margin of three points and they had not tasted defeat since Round 2 of the competition while Marconi Stallions were twelfth and they were coming off losses in their last two matches. When they met last time, the Sharks produced a 3-0 scoreline thanks to goals from C. Buswell (2) and H. Callahan. The Sharks extended their lead to five points when they produced a 3-0 win this week and that has left the Stallions at twelfth.

Sydney Olympic came into this match in second place with wins coming from their last four games while Rockdale City Suns were sixth, one point outside the top five, and they had taken points from their last six outings. Olympic were 5-2 winners in the first round encounter but this time the Suns held them to a scoreless draw, leaving Olympic in second spot and forcing the Suns back to eighth.

Bonnyrigg White Eagles kicked off this week’s match in third place and they had suffered only one loss in their last fifteen games. South Coast Wolves were in thirteenth position and they had earned points from four of their last five games. The first round points went to Bonnyrigg with a 4-2 win and they held onto third place with a 5-1 result this time, leaving the Wolves at the foot of the table.

The Wolves were also due to face the seventh placed Football NSW Institute who were 2-1 winners last time around. The institute completed the double when they were 4-0 winners this time around and they have climbed to fifth position. The goals were scored by B. Clarkson, T. Yang and D. Ryan

Blacktown Spartans arrived at this game in fourth place after earning points from four of their last five matches while Central Coast Mariners were fifth, five points behind the Spartans, after taking points from their last three outings. The Mainers had won the first round clash 1-0 but the Spartans squared the ledger when they won 2-1 this week. The Spartans are still fourth and the Mariners have dropped back to seventh.

Blacktown City were in eighth place at kick-off time, three points away from the top five, and they had posted draws in their last three games while Sydney United 58 were two points further back at ninth and they were coming off a last-match loss. City were 2-1 winners last time the teams met and they inched closer to a top five berth when they won 3-0 this week. City are now sixth and within a point of a spot in the play-offs while United are still ninth.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers were placed tenth when the first whistle blew and they had lost two of their last three games while Manly United were one point further back at eleventh and they had lost five of their last six games. They had battled out a 1-1 draw in the first round. This time Manly took all the points with a 3-1 win and the teams have swapped places on the table as a result. Manly’s goal were scored by J. Nicholson, H. Forlico and N. Gavranic.

Realistically, only one of the top two teams can win the title but the next five teams are all vying for a place in the play-offs.

Bonnyrigg White Eagles arrived at this match as the competition leaders by three points and they had won two of their last three games while South Coast Wolves were in eleventh position two wins to show for their two most recent matches. Bonnyrigg had claimed the first round points with a 1-0 result and they completed the double this week with a 4-0 result. They are still the leaders on the table and the Wolves have remained at eleventh.

The Wolves were also due to face the eighth placed Football NSW Institute who the Wolves had beaten 3-1 in the first round but this time the match ended in a 1-1 draw, an outcome that has dropped the Institute back to tenth place. The goal for the Wolves was scored by N. Djordjevic and the Institute’s goal came from K. Cimenti.

Blacktown City were in second place at kick-off time after last week’s loss had ended a six-match unbeaten run while Sydney United 58 were two points further back at third and they had taken points from their last five games. The first round points went to Blacktown with a 1-0 scoreline and that is exactly the same as this week’s result and so City are still sitting in second spot while United have slipped back to fourth.

Marconi Stallions began the day in fourth position after their unbeaten run of nine matches had come to a screaming halt with losses from their last two games. Sutherland Sharks were in sixth place and only outside the top five on goal difference following last week’s loss. The Stallions were 1-0 winners in the first round clash but this week the teams shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw. Sutherland’s goal came from L. Kizi and B. Vella found the net for Marconi. The Stallions have dropped back to fifth place and the Sharks are still sixth.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers came into this match in fifth place after they had taken points from their last four games while Manly United were in thirteenth position following losses in their last three outings. The Tigers had collected the first round points with a 2-1 result. The Tigers climbed into third place when they were 2-0 winners this time and that has left Manly at the foot of the table.

Kambitsis while Rockdale’s scorers were M. Lecce and M. Jazevski. They have moved up to eighth place and left the Suns at twelfth.

It looks as though we are in for a very exciting time over the next three weeks. It seems certain that the current leaders will claim the title and then the next nine teams are all in a position to claim places in the finals series and they will all be very aware that a slip-up could be very costly.

Their unbeaten run of twelve matches had ended with a loss but they had bounced back with wins in their last two games. Manly United were in fourth place and they had won their last four games. The Tigers had collected the first round points with a 5-1 result and they repeated the dose when they were 3-1 winners this week thanks to goals from L. Scott (2) and G. Blackwood while G. Firth netted for Manly. As a result the Tigers are now seven points clear while Manly have held onto fourth place.

Sydney Olympic were placed second when the first whistle sounded after last week’s loss had ended their eleven-match unbeaten run while Rockdale City Suns were in ninth place on goal difference and only one point outside the top five following wins in their last two matches. What a finish we have in prospect! It seems that the current leads will go on with the job and that second place is pretty much decided. However, the next six teams are separated by a mere three points so anything could happen over the next three weeks.

The Spartans were 2-0 winners last time the teams saw each other but the Mariners came up with a 1-0 result this time around. That has left the Spartans eleven points clear and left the Mariners in eighth position. .

Blacktown City arrived at this match in second place and they had bounced back from a loss with a win last week while Sydney United 58 were three points further back in third position after they had earned points from their last four games. The first round match finished in a 1-1 draw but City grabbed all the points this week when they registered a 4-1 victory to hold onto second spot and that has left United at third.

They have moved up to fifth and the Suns are still twelfth.

South Coast Wolves kicked off this match in ninth position after they had posted a draw and a win from their last two games while Bonnyrigg White Eagles were thirteenth and they were coming off a last-match win. The Wolves had claimed the first round points with a 1-0 result and hey went on with the job, winning this week’s thriller with a 4-3 scoreline. They have remained at ninth at Bonnyrigg are still at the foot of the table.

The Wolves were also due to meet the tenth placed Football NSW Institute who had taken the first round points with a 1-0 win. The tables were turned this week when the Wolves posted a 1-0 win of their own thanks to a goal from S. Onana Awono, an outcome that has left the Institute at tenth.
