Round 10 of the Womens State League witnessed another ten goal display from St George which ensured their rise to second place, while form striker Samantha Muscat scored again for Bankstown City FC against Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC.

Bankstown City FC 2 – 0 Mt Druitt Town Rangers
Goals from whom else but Samantha Muscat and winger Melissah Parlato was enough to see Bankstown cruise to victory against Mt Druitt at Jensen Park.
The women from Bankstown came out with the clear intention of dominating possession. With some key figures missing, Bankstown’s experienced players needed to step up and take charge against Mt Druitt’s disciplined core.
The game began with Bankstown controlling the battle in the middle of the park. Midfielders Carla Canini, Maniso Micheal and Liana Babic controlled the tempo of the game as they picked out their attackers with some slick passing leading to goal scoring opportunities.
As the game wore on it was clear that the makeshift back four which consisted of 15-year-old Rachel Cassan along with Ash Kirby would need no assistance which enabled their midfielders to push forward in search of the goal.
That goal came midway through the half where winger Melissah Parlato hit a shot with so much power and accuracy which went straight in to the back of the net. The opening goal taken from just inside the box was shot from such a tight angle and could be contender for goal of the year.
As the half wore on, Bankstown started to succumb to some Mt Druitt pressure and started to lie deeper in their own half. The Town Rangers enjoyed spells of possession but were deprived of any clear-cut chances.
With the game in the balance, Mt Druitt were instructed to push for the goal as soon as possible which left them open to some counter attacking plays from Bankstown’s wingers. The teams went into the half at 1-0.
The second half began in similar fashion as the first; again Bankstown controlled the game through some inquisitive play from their midfielders who showed great interlinking moves with Jenai Shearer on the right side of the pitch.
Though, Mt Druitt did not stop in search for their opener but began to look lethargic midway through the second half. Unfortunately for them, Bankstown’s composure and team chemistry ensured that they would constantly have to be chasing the ball around.
With approximately fifteen minutes to go, the league’s top goal scorer Samantha Muscat once again got on the score sheet after taking advantage of a cross from her left winger.  From this point on Bankstown remained in control as they cruised to their seventh-straight win.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers 1 – 10 St George FC
A six-goal haul from form winger Georgia Koinis ensured St George’s rise to second on the table after Mt Druitt’s loss to Bankstown City FC.
Koinis who has been in magnificent form also had some assists as midfielder Melissa Toumbelekis slotted three and striker Rachelle Wang recorded one goal for herself.
Special mentions to Jess Carosi and Suzie Gallagher who ensured great stability and composure in the middle of the park
The Saints maintain their potent attack as they continue to score for fun, although conceding a goal to APIA who is the league’s second lowest attacking side is something their coaching staff would need to address leading into their next game against Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC.
