Valentine Sports Park was a referee haven as Football NSW with the assistance of the FFA hosted a Level 1 and Level 3 assessors course.

Fifteen participants took part in the Level 1 referees course on January 31st which looked at referees increasing their qualifications to the highest level.

Well known Football NSW referee Stephen Lucas, also a Hyundai A-League official, took charge of a session that delivered examples and exercises for promising officials.

A further twenty-five participants then joined in on the fun a day later as Football NSW held a Level 3 assessors course.

The level 3 assessors course will enable over 1000 more assessments of referees in the coming season.

This is part of Football NSW dedication to development and training of referees from grassroots through to elite Football.

Referees Education Coordinator Robert Nieuwenhuis was delighted with the enthusiasm shown across the two days as Football NSW continued to work towards developing more referees.

“We had a really good group on both days and I am confident every one of them took home a number of key learnings to further upskill them as referees.”
