Health benefits help promote Football

Joining a Club within Northern Suburbs Football Association creates an active and healthy lifestyle for all involved.
Health and well-being is at the forefront of every parent’s goals for their children but should be something adults think of for themselves as well.
Northern Suburbs Football Association CEO Duncan Tweed believes football can be the catalyst for the right habits.
“The health benefits football has are phenomenal,” he said.
“It creates an active lifestyle which in turn improves people’s physical health.
“It also gives fantastic mental health benefits with people coming out to play and meet with their mates.
“Age is not a barrier either as we offer football for kids from the age of five through to over-45s.
“Our goal as an Association is to help our community experience the joys of football – irrespective of whether it is a competitive environment or not, young or old, male or female.”
The Association has the second largest football number of participants in NSW with over 15,000 registered players across 34 clubs.
Volunteers and referees are also being sought for the upcoming season.
“Being involved in football is a great way to get to know the people in your local area,” Tweed said.
“So not only is it a way of being healthy but also doing something with your community.”
NSFA has a fantastic pathway for youngsters to make their way up to becoming professionals.
The pathway begins with the Skills Acquisition Program for juniors through to National Premier League Club Northern Tigers.
The NSFA Football School also provides players at the community level between the ages of six and 13 with a chance for additional training outside of their regular club team training.
