Thus far, affiliated Summer Football competitions conducted by Football NSW clubs and associations from September to February have seen a huge increase in those participating in Summer Football.
Football NSW Game Development Officer and Summer Football spokesperson Anthony Herrera stated his confidence in the summer format growing from strength to strength.
“It’s great to see the growth of football continuing in what has traditionally been the “off-season”, pushing the notion that the beautiful game can be played and enjoyed all year round.
“It’s a fantastic way to keep fit and healthy during the summer months as well as being able to meet new friends in a happy, safe and affordable environment.”
As of late July, 31 clubs have been booked for the new Summer Football season which includes six new venues; Pittwater RSL, St George Football Association, Ropers Crossing FC, Sutherland Sharks FC and North Sydney United FC.
Associations have thrown in their support for Summer Football as many as seven are running affiliated competitions while three PS4 National Premier Leagues Clubs will also be running games throughout the season.
County clubs will also promote the wonderful game with Dubbo DFA, Moruya SC, Tamut Eagles, Shoalhaven DFA and Cobar Junior SC all gearing up for the Summer Football season.
The Southern Districts Association along with Northern Suburbs FA have been amongst the biggest movers and shakers, returning for another year where participants will be taking part in this small-sided footballing experience.
