Amy Martin and Giulio Di Stefano both are finalists for the NSW 2015 Community Sports Volunteer Awards. Showing devotion, passion and a love for football, they have been recognized by their communities and their sport.
Martin, who has been nominated in the Coaching category for the award, despite still playing, coaches the Reserve Women’s, Under 17 Girls and Under 14 Girls at the Melrose Football Club in the Albury-Wodonga Association. She is also a PD/H/PE teacher at Xavier High School where she coaches the Year 7-9 boys and girls teams as well as the girl’s year 10-12 team.
Devoting many hours to football and giving young footballers the best possible training, Martin researches and applies new techniques to her coaching. With her background as a PD/H teacher, she uses her knowledge on fitness, nutrition and healthy eating to promote it to the youngsters.
Amy is a confident, dynamic and inspiring individual, well-liked by not only her peers but receives the respect from opposition and her young charges.
Giulio Di Stefano is an avid football fan and administrator for the Sutherland Shire Football Association. Di Stefano has been nominated for the Community Sports Administrator award.
Taking a range of roles within the Sutherland Shire Football Association, he acts as the Treasurer, sits on the judicial committee and both develops and oversees the AIA Vitality MiniRoos program set out by Football Federation Australia.
Di Stefano also liaises with Hyundai A-League club Sydney FC in organising their ball boys and half time games, something he also did during the recent AFC Asian Cup.
Giulio has been a volunteer in football at Association level for the past 13 years, which is an achievement in itself and yet he continually excels with his selfless commitment elsewhere within the Sport.
The dedication shown by Giulio in fostering healthy and fair participation in football for all involved and is second to none. An award at this level would be a fitting acknowledgment from the community he has served.
