Round 10 Preview – PS4 NPL NSW Women’s
With only two games being played last round following the wet weather, the PlayStation4 NPL NSW Women’s competition moves into the second half of the season this week.
Blacktown Spartans V North Shore Mariners
At Blacktown Football Park, the North Shore Mariners will travel to take on the Blacktown Spartans.
Paul Costantini’s girls are winless in three and if the trend continues could see themselves move further away from a finals place.
Last week’s loss in horrible conditions to bottom placed Emerging jets would’ve been a kick in the teeth and they’ll need to back up quick.
The Mariners are another side that has suffered with bad form of late, losing their last three matches.
Their match last week against Marconi was washed out, giving them more time to re-evaluate how things stand.
When the two sides met earlier in the season, it was a late Spartans goal that secured a 1-1 draw for the side from Blacktown.
Manly United V Illawarra Stingrays
Manly United will welcome the Illawarra Stingrays on Sunday afternoon to Cromer Park.
Confidence is high for the Northern Beaches based side as things have slowly started to come together.
Two wins and a draw in their last three outings have propelled the young side into the mix for finals football and three points against a side like the Stingrays will go a long way for them.
The Stingrays suffered their first defeat of the season in their last game against Sydney Uni.
That result saw them drop first place but will be keen to get back up their with three points this week.
Having not played last week either, it may have come as a relief with the Stingrays’ Matilda’s set to return this week.
It was a high scoring affair the last time they met with a strong second half from the Stingrays ensuring them of a 4-2 win.
North West Sydney Koalas V Macarthur Rams
ELS Hall Park will host Sunday’s fixture between the North West Sydney Koalas and the Macarthur Rams.
At the half waypoint of the season, the Koalas have gone about their business quietly and currently sit in second place on the ladder.
If the Koalas can repeat their first half of the season, Stephen Peters’ team will be a contender for the Premiership.
The Rams’ opening to the season has been slightly inconsistent but solid, picking up five wins and three losses so far.
With last week’s game getting postponed minutes before kick off, captain Renee Rollason and her team will be ready to go this week.
The Koalas stole the show back in round one, coming away with a tight 2-1 victory at Lynwood Park.
Football NSW Institute V Marconi Stallions
In the delayed match, on Thursday night, the Football NSW Institute will take on the Marconi Stallions.
If there is one team looking to turn the screws in the second half of the season, it will be the Institute.
Five straight defeats isn’t quite up to their standards and they’ll look to rectify that as soon as possible.
Scoring goals is no issue for this talented team, keeping them out seems a slightly bigger issue and if they can improve theRE, they could be a second half of the season hit.
Fantastic form for Stephen Neligan’s side as they move into the business end of the season.
Three straight wins for the Stallions has them as serious finals contenders and with the rise of form from Helen Petinos and Heidi Makrillos they could be hard to stop in the coming weeks.
Some mention must also go to Alesha Clifford who has been an integral part of the Stallions defence.
It was a tight game last time between the two, with veteran Jodie Bain’s strike separating them.
Emerging Jets V Sydney University
Date of game to be announced.
