One of Australia’s leading Sport schools, Westfields Sports High are yet again churning out a number of milestone achievements via its former pupils who have graced the hallowed turf at the famous precinct.

Located in Fairfield West, Westfields Sports, has continued commitment in providing each student with the educational opportunities and quality resources essential for the achievement of personal excellence in scholarship, citizenship, sport and the arts.

It’s been a monumental year for the school’s Football Program which has seen many Westfields students represent Sydney South West and capture the State Championships for both Open Boys and Girls categories further enhancing the regions reputation as being one of the best in NSW.

The female game has grown in numbers in recent seasons thanks to the success of the Westfield Matildas amongst a number of other contributing factors which has been well documented by the specialized Sports High School who continually encourage female footballers to follow their dreams.

2016 will see a number of current and former students in action starting with Ellie Carpenter, who became the youngest member selected to represent the Westfield Matildas at the up and coming Olympic Games in Rio. Alongside Ellie will be former student Alana Kennedy.

Along with Carpenter and Kennedy, Leah Blayney will also be travelling with the Westfield Matildas squad to Rio as part of the technical staff adding to her experience coming off her Under 17 National Team assistant coach duties for the Australian Girls.

Current Westfields Sports High Goalkeeper Coach Brody Crane is also jet-setting at the moment and is currently in Myanmar with the Young Matildas which also features current pupils Jada Mathyssen-Whyman and Princess Ibini-Isei.

Current Socceroos defender Milos Degenek recently returned to the school and paid a number of his former teachers a visit – with fellow teammates Matt Ryan, Aaron Mooy and Nathan Burns all hailing from the same school, Degenek also offered some expert advice to the many football participants within the school.

Finally, 2016 has seen the school in conjunction with the Southern District Soccer Football Association enter teams in the local competition for Under 6, 7 and 8 competitions giving younger players the opportunity to participate in a professionally run football program with special appearances from former student and current Sydney FC skipper Alex Brosque.
