Football NSW’s Risk Management and State Member Protection Officer Michelle Hanley has officially been nominated as finalist in the 2016 NSW Sports Awards in the category of ‘Administrator of the Year’, with the event taking place on Thursday 23rd of February at Curzon Hall.

Hanley has shown her dedication and passion for her job throughout her many years at Football NSW with only recently being credited for her fantastic work relating to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Interim Football NSW CEO Stefan Kamasz praised the hard work and commitment Hanley displayed not just on the recent Royal Commission but on the various projects she has worked on for the sporting organisation throughout her years.

“It’s a great achievement to have one of our staff members nominated in the category of ‘Administrator of the Year’ for the upcoming NSW Sports Awards.

“We as an organisation nominated Michelle on the basis of the public recognition given to her following her outstanding work relating to The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

“I know that we are all very proud of Michelle’s achievements in this regard amongst many others, which have been fittingly recognised in this nomination, and I also know that all of us here hope that she will be further recognised by winning the award.”

Following Michelle’s nomination, the victorious NSW Cerebral Palsy Football Team was also nominated in the ‘Team of the Year with a Disability’ category with the team hoping they can continue their list of winning more silverware with winning this prestigious accolade.

Now in its 22nd year, the prestigious NSW Sports Awards celebrate the finest achievements by NSW athletes, teams, coaches, administrators and organisations in 2016.

An all-embracing event, the NSW Sports Awards acknowledge the breadth of sporting activity and achievement across the state each year with categories for able-bodied and disabled athletes, young athletes and masters athletes.

Awards are also presented for the best event of the year, official of the year and the all-important distinguished long service awards for those that have given exceptional long-time service to their sport.

The awards are conducted by Sport NSW and Chief Executive Officer Darren Simpson said the ceremony in February is a unique opportunity to celebrate NSW sporting achievements of 2016.

“The NSW Sports Awards provide us the platform to recognise the outstanding accomplishments in so many different areas of sport in NSW. It is truly a night for the sporting community to unite and to celebrate everything about sport that we value so dearly, from volunteering through to the highest level of achievement,” Mr Simpson said.
