Elasi believes in change of fortune at Sharks
It’s been no secret that Sutherland Sharks Football Club have struggled so far in the early stages of the season but with a change of coach, talisman Nathan Elasi believes the Sharks will have a new lease of life in the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition.
With just one solitary win in their first seven starts to the season, Sutherland Sharks Football Club find themselves in a usual predicament as they head into round eight of the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s.
Sitting well into the lower half of the ladder isn’t something any club wants to be associated with however after poor start to the season, the boys from the Shire have found themselves somewhat stuck in a rut of late that goal scoring forward, Elasi believes is, “Probably where we deserve to be unfortunately.”
“It has been a tough start to year.
“The team is mainly made up of young footballers but we still set the bar high and aimed for semi-finals football at the start of the season. However, the cliché rings true.”
How you train is how you play.
“We have been poor on the field.
“It stems a lot from the amount of effort we’ve put in during the weeks leading up to a game.
“We have been sluggish and to be honest lacked a lot of motivation at times which has really shown come game day.
“All of us at the club have a lot of faith in the squad and I’m the same. We have some great young footballers in the side and we really should be sitting higher up the ladder with what we have.”
The results unfortunately left the club with no choice but to part ways with head coach Carlos Vilazon.
After such a disappointing start to the year the club felt it best to move in a different direction where they have recently appointed Grant Lee to lead the club forward.
“Grant’s decision to become the new Head Coach has already had a great impact around the club.
“That positive vibe is back and all the boys have bought into his way of coaching and the football he wants us to play.
“We are all really putting in at training which I’m sure will show come game day.
“The start of the season has been disappointing but it’s behind us now. Sutherland is a great club and probably the best I’ve been at in the last ten years.
“We are a very tight group who want to turn everything around. We got together and agreed that our aims for the year haven’t changed and that we will do all we can each week to get ourselves there.
“After getting married last month and the turn around in the club over the last week, I’m really excited for everything that’s going on at the moment.
“As long as we continue our new approach on a weekly basis I really feel we can turn it all around make 2017 a great year for the club.”
