Round 10 Review – PS4 NPL NSW Men’s U20
Sutherland continue to lead the way after round 10 of the PS4 NPL NSW Men’s U20 competition after edging struggling Parramatta at Seymour Shaw.
Meanwhile, Bonnyrigg’s season took another turn for the worse after a 6-0 home defeat to Sydney FC.
The Match of the Round saw Sydney United 58 leapfrog Blacktown City into second place with a win over Manly United.

Sydney United 58 3-1 Manly United, 2.00pm at Sydney United Sports Centre
Sydney United 58 tightened their grip on third spot after easily accounting for Manly United 3-1 in their Sunday afternoon clash at Sydney United Sports Centre.
The Reds opened the scoring inside fifteen minutes through Andre Schroeder and went on to control large sections of the match before doubling their advantage when Anthony Poljak struck midway through the second half.
Liam Ivancic added a third to cement the victory for the hosts before Rory Spiers netted a consolation with the last kick of the affair.
Although it was a relatively comfortable three points for United 58 they had goalkeeper Luke Pervan to thank for two crucial interventions early in the second half with the score at 1-0.
United 58 were much the brighter side in the opening exchanges and let Manly off the hook early on when Schroder failed to connect properly after a mishap inside the box, before Jack Stewart saw a powerful effort swerve past the far post after a strong drive down the right.
Antoni Zmire’s side opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Schroeder popped up in between the Manly centre halves to volley home Poljak’s cross with ease.
They continued to dominate the half with Schroeder knitting together several promising forays forward while the probing runs of Jack Stewart and Poljak on either flank brought flashes of danger for the visitors.
Manly were on the back foot but could’ve restored parity in absurd circumstances midway through the first half. Anthony Trimboli sold Pervan short with the goalkeeper playing an errant pass across goal that went straight into the path of Kyle Conna. Unfortunately for the visitors the Manly forward could not turn the ball home with an empty net at his mercy.
The visitors had been sloppy during the first half but mustered an excellent response early in the second stanza and were only denied an equalizing goal by the heroics of Pervan who made two outstanding interventions to preserve the lead.
The first saw the United 58 keeper pull off a superhuman save to get in the way of Mitchell Rooke’s powerful strike from close range after the Manly midfielder met Berti’s pull back head on at the back post, while Pervan was there again minutes later to acrobatically palm away a curling effort, this time from Berti.
Another chance went begging for the visitors when Rory Spiers slashed his shot into the side netting following a crisp transition involving Berti and Conna but Manly found themselves two goals behind within minutes of the miss when goalkeeper Shaun Catlin spilled a bobbling effort from Vrlic into the path of Poljak who doubled the advantage.
Four minutes later United 58 added a match-sealing third when Ivancic nicked Vrlic’s cross off the toes of Catlin.
Rory Spiers netted a consolation in some style after a poor clearance from Pervan fell to the midfielder who executed a superb first time lob that found the back of the net from the centre circle.
Sydney United 58 play Blacktown City next Sunday in what looks to be a superb top of the table clash while Manly will look to bounce back at home to Hakoah Sydney City East.

Saturday
Sutherland Sharks 2-1 Parramatta, 4.30pm at Seymour Shaw
A brace from Matias Da Silva Santos gave league leaders Sutherland Sharks a 2-1 victory over Parramatta at Seymour Shaw.
The Sutherland attacker struck midway through the first half and early in the second to give the Sharks an unassailable 2-0 advantage and although Camil Abouchaaya reduced the deficit in a much-improved performance for the Parramatta they were unable to prevent their fifth defeat in a row.
The win leaves Sutherland four points ahead of Sydney United 58 in second while Parramatta remain eleventh, two points ahead of bottom-placed Bonnyrigg.
Sutherland travel to Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday lunchtime to take on Olympic in round 11 while Parramatta face a big match against Bonnyrigg.
Bonnyrigg White Eagles 0-6 Sydney FC, 5.00pm at Bonnyrigg Sports Club
Bonnyrigg White Eagles slumped to their seventh loss of the season after a crushing 6-0 defeat to Sydney FC at Bonnyrigg Sports Club.
A brace from John Irelade and goals from Daniel Maskin, Sam Mcillhatten, Daniel Blachura and Alex Gollan paved way for a resounding victory for the Sky Blues who move into sixth position.
Hamish Brown’s side remain rooted to the foot of the table on five points, two points behind eleventh-placed Parramatta.
Sydney FC will aim for consecutive victories when they host Wollongong Wolves at home next week with Bonnyrigg hosting Parramatta.

Hakoah Sydney City East 0-1 Sydney Olympic, 1.00pm at Hensley Athletic Field
Paul Katsetis’ first half strike was enough for Sydney Olympic to land a crucial 1-0 win over Hakoah Sydney City East at Hensley Athletic Field.
The Blues have now won back to back matches after previously going five without a win and now find themselves fourth on the ladder.
Hakoah Sydney City East will lament their inability to build on last weekend’s 4-0 victory over Parramatta and slide into seventh position on the ladder.
Hakoah travel to Cromer Park on Saturday evening with Olympic set to host Sutherland on Sunday.
Wollongong Wolves 2-3 Rockdale City Suns, 1.00pm at WIN Stadium
A brace from Jack Lombo was not enough for Wollongong Wolves to avoid a 3-2 defeat to Rockdale City Suns at WIN Stadium.
The Wolves attacker struck twice for the South Coast outfit but goals from Josh Gould, Tobias Norval and James Temelkovski secured a vital away victory for the Suns who move up to eighth position following their third win of the season.
Wollongong fall to tenth ahead of their round 11 visit to Sydney FC while Rockdale face APIA Leichhardt Tigers looking for back to back victories.
APIA Leichhardt Tigers 2-0 Blacktown City, 2.30pm at Lambert Park
APIA Leichhard Tigers moved back into the top five after an excellent 2-0 win over Blacktown City at Lambert Park.
Goals from Mathew Barko and Dominic Cox proved the difference for the Tigers who delivered an admirable response following their 4-3 defeat at the hands of Manly United the previous round.
Blacktown City slip one position down into third after their third defeat of the season.
John Carnevale’s side host Sydney United 58 in next Sunday’s blockbuster while APIA Leichhardt face a trip to a resurgent Rockdale.
