Amongst a tough start to 2017 for the Bonnyrigg White Eagles Football Club, young talisman Hassan Jalloh is becoming arguably the find of the season.

After a stellar start to his career within the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition, Jalloh, currently eighteen, has already notched up seven goals in his first ten appearances.

After spending the last three seasons with both Blacktown Spartans Football Club and Bankstown City Lions Football Club, Jalloh received an offer that was too good to knock back for the aspiring striker.

“At the end of last year I had a few offers from clubs in Sydney but it was Bonnyrigg that offered me a first grade contract. To be eighteen and offered that was something special, so I knew I had to sign there.

“At the start of the season I played in the under 20’s but was soon given my chance in the first grade squad.

“It was a chance I took with both hands.”

After making his first appearance off the bench against Sydney Olympic, Jalloh has been one of the first names on Brian Brown’s team sheet each week.

With his quick turn of speed and keen eye for goal, seeing Jalloh’s name on the score sheet is becoming something of a sure thing of late for a club who has struggled in the early stages of the season.

A pressure Jalloh believes has had a positive impact on his game after taking over from club legend and all-time leading goalscorer Robbie Younis as well as the recent long term injury loss of striker Aaron Peterson.

“I feel the pressure every week.

“I have heard and know about what Robbie did here but I’m just focusing on being me and scoring goals each week.

“I think the pressure to perform and pick up points makes me hungrier to score goals and help the team out.”

For Jalloh, football means absolutely everything as his aims to make it his full-time profession in the future.

With this he understands he must perform each week and credits his set habits that have been putting him in great stead so far this season.

“I’ve been focusing a lot on looking after my body.

“I have started taking care of it before and after every training session and game.

“Eating the right foods as well focusing on my upcoming matches has allowed me to be in great shape come kick off.

“Every game is a grand final for me. I never know who could be watching so I’ll be looking to continue my form.

“As a team I don’t think we’ve been playing badly at all. We have had a few injuries and at times been unlucky which has cost us some points.

“We have continued to train and play hard each week and I think in time we will start to get the results.

“We just have to be patient and take it one week at a time.”
