Round 15 Review – PS4 NPL NSW Women’s
Some shock results and high scores were the tale of the tape in round 15 of the PlayStation®4 NPL NSW Women’s competition.
Manly United v Football NSW Institute
Manly United were too strong for the Football NSW Institute on Sunday afternoon at Cromer Park in the PlayStation®4 NPL NSW Women’s competition.
A hat-trick to star striker Remy Siemsen had the home side well in control, while Madeleine Neville also added to the 4-0 demolition.
It means the gap between Manly and the fifth placed Mariners is now four points, and six from the Institute, whose finals hopes are all but over now.
Manly couldn’t have hoped for a better start, hitting the front after only five minutes.
Silky Sarah Yatim played in a delightful ball for Remy Siemsen who made no mistake with her finish, burying the ball in the bottom corner.
Only 10 minutes later and United doubled their lead.
Sophie Nenadovic delivered a brilliant corner allowing Madeleine Neville to thump her header into the back of the net.
It was all Manly and on 30 minutes the home side went further in front as Siemsen scored her second.
The Institute was outdone by another set piece, this time Jessie Wharepouri finding Siemsen at the front post as the team’s top scorer made no mistake with her volley.
Siemsen could’ve had her hat-trick before the break after she connected well with Nenadovic and Nikola Orgill, only to blast over the bar.
Craig Foster’s side came out for the second half more focused and played some of their renowned good football but couldn’t break down the Manly defence.
Siemsen had her hat-trick on the hour mark and assured the points for United.
Tess Olsen won the ball after some high press, playing through Siemsen who volleyed home with a powerful effort.
Siemsen almost had a fourth as the game came to a close, this time smacking her effort against the post after some good work by substitute Sophie Harding.
For Chris Willaims’s side, finals are almost secured with some slight hope of sneaking home with the premiership.

North West Sydney Koalas 5-0 Emerging Jets
At ELS Hall Park on Sunday the North West Sydney Koalas hosted the Emerging Jets.
Last year’s beaten finalists would’ve been keen to finish their season as best as possible with finals seeming an impossible task.
They did just that, winning comfortably 5-0 in a fairly one-sided dual.
Rachell Perrins scored a brace while captain Nat Tobin, Tara Andrews and Kiara Farquhar all got on the scoresheet.
Illawarra Stingrays 5-0 Macarthur Rams
The derby of the round took place at JJ Kelly Park as the Illawarra Stingrays welcomed the table topping Macarthur Rams.
A tight, high scoring match is what was expected from this one but all that we got was a high scoring fixture.
The Stingrays took all three points with a dominating 5-0 performance, completely throwing the Premiership race wide open.
The home side were on their way to victory already after the first 45 minutes, going into the sheds leading 3-0 and in control.
Erica Halloway, Emma Rolston, Logan Garard and captain Michelle Carney all got their names down on the score sheet.
It means with three rounds left, only six points separate the top four with the league leading Rams having played two matches more than both Uni and Manly.
North Shore Mariners 1-0 Northern Tigers
At Northbridge Oval, the North Shore Mariners took on the Northern Tigers in a local derby.
It was the home side though that continued their fantastic form and second half of the season in this one.
A first half goal to exciting striker Tiffany Paterson was enough for the Mariners to keep their slight finals hopes alive.
Time is running out for the Mariners though as they trail Manly by four points on the ladder.
Sydney University 3-0 Blacktown Spartans
At Sydney University Football Ground, Sydney University took on the Blacktown Spartans.
Both teams needed to take three points, Uni to stay in the Premiership race and Spartans to stay in finals contention.
It was the home side and start of season favourites Sydney Uni that came away with the spoils, winning 3-0.
Clare Hunt, Nikki Flannery and Evelyn Chronis all scored for Heather Garriock’s team.
The win means Uni is now in a great position to reclaim top spot on the ladder and defend their premiership title with three rounds left.
