Harrison ready for Manly United
Having spent most of 2017 on the sidelines, Amy Harrison has recovered at the perfect time for the Macarthur Rams.
The lanky striker has been scoring at will since her return and helped the Rams secure the Premiership.
Now, Macarthur and Harrison will look to add to that first trophy of the season with the Championship in Sunday’s grand final.
‘It’s been a pretty injury prone campaign for me but good to be back at the back end of the season.’
The prolific striker was proud of her team’s performance throughout the year as she watched on from the stands.
‘The girls have been really good all season, we slipped up a bit against Manly United but it was good to get the win against Sydney Uni and I think we’re in good stead going into the final.’
At only 21, Harrison would be considered one of the youngest in the side but she brings a wealth of experience to the Rams and the youngsters within the squad.
Capped for the Matildas already, along with over 30 games in the Westfield W-League, Macarthur’s teenagers can learn much from the striker.
‘We have a lot of talented players, Kahlia Muilwyk who came on and scored against Uni in the semi along with Rosie (Rosaria Galea) are the standouts.’
‘I try be positive to them, use the experience that I have and give that to them as much as I can, let them know when they’re making mistakes.
‘I’m not the only one with experience in the side though which is fortunate for us as we have Leena (Khamis), Leddie (Kylie Ledbrook) and T (Teresa Polias) so I think we all help out pretty well.’
Looking forward to Sunday’s final and their opponents Manly United, Harrison is impressed by their complete team and couldn’t single anyone out in particular.
‘They’re a well set up unit and work well as a team, I can’t pick out one that stands out.’
The Rams striker is prepared for the tough clash that awaits them but expects her side to come home with the trophy.
‘I think it’ll be tough, we lose a few players like the likes of Ledbrook with the yellow card issue but I think we know we have to have a big second half if we want to win and that’s something we’ll definitely look at.’
