Football NSW is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Demelza Howard to the position of Manager, Futsal.

Ms Howard, who was previously the Game Development Officer responsible for Football NSW’s Inclusion Programs, is a long-time Futsal player having spent 20 years playing the game including 12 years with Dural Warriors. She is also a state representative coach and will again be taking a NSW State Team to the National Futsal Championships in Canberra in early January 2018.

In a slightly reconfigured and more holistic role, Ms Howard takes over from David Plowright who resigned in September to pursue alternative career opportunities.

On being appointed, Ms Howard was looking forward to the new challenges that lay ahead.

“I am honoured to be given this incredible opportunity.

“Football NSW has recognised the game of Futsal as a key strategic priority to support and it is my aim to continue its development and growth across the state.

“I have played Futsal since the age of seven at a local centre and the sport has taken me both interstate and overseas where I have had the opportunity to compete in tournaments like the AFF Futsal Club Championships.

“Futsal has grown tremendously in the time since I first became involved and I endeavour to help many others enjoy and benefit from it just as I have”.

In making the announcement and congratulating Demelza, Chief Executive Officer Stuart Hodge said “Futsal is a key component of our business and we are confident that its growth will continue under Demelza. We remain committed to supporting futsal programs within many schools, local centres and club’s and continuing the success of the game from the grassroots to elite levels.”

In 2017 there were 12,400 community level futsal players registered with Football NSW.
