Sydney University further pushed their case for the premiership in the NPL NSW Women’s competition with a lop-sided win, while the Football NSW Institute was involved in another shootout.

Macarthur Rams 3-1 Illawarra Stingrays

It was a comfortable win for the Macarthur Rams on Sunday afternoon at Lynwood Park when they took on the Illawarra Stingrays.

A goal either side of the break from Georgia Yeoman-Dale and a neat header by Rose Galea had the Rams 3-0 up by the 60th minute.

Evelyn Chronis found herself on the scoresheet for the away side but it proved only to be a consolation as the Rams ran away with a 3-1 win.

Norm Boardman’s side remain in second place on ladder, hot on the heals of Sydney Uni.

The first real chance of the game fell the way of the Stingrays as Michelle Carney moved into the box, unselfishly squaring the ball up for Erica Halloway who only had Sham Khamis to beat.

The Rams keeper reacted well and saved from the Stingrays winger before the home side cleared the ball away.

Macarthur had their chance in 27 minutes through Georgia Yeoman-Dale.

Yeoman-Dale burst through the Stingrays defence and had all the time in the world to beat the Stingrays keeper but she panicked and could only hit the ball into Kya Stewart.

Only 60 seconds later and again Yeoman-dale was in.

Nice play on the edge of the area and a smart first time pass by Teresa Polias had the Rams striker in but again Kya Stewart saved well.

It was third time lucky for the Rams striker on 36 minutes.

Yeoman-Dale got the better of Stewart this time, calmly slotting the ball beyond the Stingrays keeper.

A minute before the break, the away side threatened.

Halloway whipped in a teasing ball finding Evelyn Chronis at the far post who couldn’t slot the ball into the back of the net.

Only 90 seconds into the second half and the home side doubled their advantage.

A neat flick on by Leena Khamis had Yeoman-Dale on the end of it before blasting the ball into the top corner with a left footed strike.

Carney and Halloway combined again in the 50th minute but latter couldn’t beat Khamis.

It was 3-0 for the Rams on 58 minutes.

Yeoman-Dale turned provider, crossing in a fine ball to find Rose Galea at the far post as she headed home.

Mary Fowler almost had the away side back into it with some fine skill and a powerful effort but Khamis saved well.

From the resulting corner, the Stingrays pulled one back in the 64th minute.

Fowler’s corner found Chronis in the box who gave Khamis no chance with a powerful header.

Talitha Kramer gave Michelle Carney the perfect opportunity to get the Stingrays right back into the match earning her side a penalty in the 71st minute.

Carney went left from the spot but so did Khamis, with the Rams keeper making a fine save.

It was the last swing the Stingrays through as the Rams routinely rounded the match off.

Yeoman-Dale had a couple chances to consolidate her hat-trick but she wasn’t able to score her third goal.

Sutherland Sharks 0-3 NWS Koalas

It was more misery for the Sutherland Sharks on Sunday as they hosted the North West Sydney Koalas at Harrie Denning Centre.

Jaime Gomez’s team took a two goal lead into half time as they lead 2-0.

They added a third in the second period to register their second win of the campaign and a convincing 3-0 win.

Bankstown City 0-0 Northern Tigers

Bankstown City and Northern Tigers did battle on a rough Jensen Park pitch on Sunday afternoon.

Bankstown were looking for back to wins while the Tigers were on a three-match winning run.

Neither side could find a winner though as they had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

Sydney University 8-1 Blacktown Spartans

At Sydney University Football Ground, Sydney University dismantled the Blacktown Spartans.

The match was already over after the first 45 minutes with the home side going into half time leading 6-1.

Alex Epakis’s didn’t stop there though, adding two more goals in the second period to humiliate the Spartans 8-1.

Cortnee Vine, the competition in form striker scored four goals while Julie-Ann Russel, Carla Trimboli, Kenall Fletcher and Rachel Soutar all got on the scoresheet for Uni.

Sarah Yatim picked up the Spartans only goal.

Emerging Jets 1-1 North Shore Mariners

At Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility, the Emerging Jets welcomed the North Shore Mariners.

Again, the Jets could only muster a draw, as they still search for win number one of the campaign.

The 1-1 draw meant the Mariners stay in fifth spot on the ladder.

Molly Arens scored for the home side while Hannah Bourke got the Mariners goal.

Manly United 5-4 Football NSW Institute

As suspected, there was another goal fest with the Football NSW Institute involved, this time against Manly United at Cromer Park.

In a seven-goal first half bonanza, it was the away side that went into the sheds leading 4-3.

Chris Williams’s side came out fighting though and turn the result on its head, winning the game 5-4 and moving themselves into third place on the ladder.

Ally Green grabbed a brace for Manly as Isabella Walker, Sunny Franco and Sophie Harding also found themselves on the scoresheet.
