The 2018 state-wide knockout competition for State Schools in NSW was completed last Wednesday, 22 August, at Seymour Shaw Stadium, Miranda. Only two schools shared the four titles of KO champions.

Westfields Sports HS won both the Boys Sports High Schools’ Final and Girls Sports High Schools’ Final. In the Girls Final, Westfields defeated Hunter Sports HS 2-1. The Westfields team was dominant against a smaller Hunter side and deserved their victory. They provided both the Player of the Final, Taylor Ray, and the Player of the Series, Rosie Galea.

Westfields defeated The Hills Sports HS 2-0 in the Boys Sports High Schools’ Final. Martin Fernandez (Westfields) was voted Player of the Final, and Dean Palekanos (The Hills) was voted Player of the Series. This game was one of the most attractive Sports High Schools Finals in recent years.

Wollongong High School for the Performing Arts won both the Boys and Girls Comprehensive High Schools’ Finals. They became only the fourth High School (after Westfields SHS, Endeavour SHS, and The Hills SHS) to win both Boys and Girls Finals in the one year, and became the first Comprehensive High School to do so. Wollongong defeated Burwood Girls HS 3-1 in the Girls Final and Karabar HS 3-0 in the Boys Final. Wollongong provided both the Player of the Final, Ceira Fowler, and the Player of the Series, Mary Fowler, in the Girls Final, and the Player of the Final, Tane Nunn, in the Boys Final. The Boys Player of the Series was Nicolas Felizzi (Karabar HS).
