NSW Squads announced for National Youth Championships for Boys

Football NSW is pleased to announce that the Under 13 and Under 14 Metropolitan and Country State Teams for the National Youth Championships have been selected.

Football Federation Australia has decided that in 2018, Football NSW will be granted four spots in each age group and therefore we will be selecting three Metropolitan squads, and one Country squad, of 17 players (with a minimum of four shadow players per team) to represent Football NSW at the FFA National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour 24-28 September 2018.

The Tournament will be held at C.ex Coffs International Stadium and will see teams from each Member Federation battle it out for the National Championship title.

Football NSW’s Technical Director for Men’s and Boys’ Football Warren Grieve outlined the detailed process selections undertook before announcing each respective squad.

“The selection process for this year’s State Teams has followed a very lengthy and thorough process.

“We have given opportunity to Technical Directors, and Head Coaches from the NPL, and HAL Academies to share their thoughts and recommendations as they have watched players in their own environments both training and playing.

“In addition, we set up internal matches which ran over 4 weeks.

“The overall potential on show was exceptional and made it a tough task to finalise the squads.

“This is a credit to the NPL Clubs, Member Associations, the parents, guardians, but most importantly the players for their efforts.

“We are looking forward to watching them compete in Coffs Harbour.”
