Female clubs celebrate Proctor Park Challenge

Sixty-one female teams from across NSW played out an entertaining 2019 Proctor Park Challenge held at Bathurst as the Girls game continued to gain momentum with some amazing displays of football on show.

The pre-season tournament saw four different club winners, displaying the vast talent across women’s football.

The 12 Girls category saw APIA Leichhardt Tigers lift the Cup thanks to a 1-0 victory over the North Shore Mariners.

The 14 Girls was a tight affair as the Bankstown City Lions held onto their nerves to record a 5-4 penalty shootout victory over the Sutherland Shire FA.

Bankstown City Lions were denied a second trophy at Bathurst in the 15 Girls category as Canberra outfit Belconnen Blue Devils pipped the Sydneysiders 4-3 on penalties.

While finally in the 17 Girls it was the Marconi Stallions who proved far too strong for their opponents taking out the Sutherland Shire FA in the Grand Final 2-0.
Apart from the trophies given out to the winning teams there were also individual award winners for Player of the Tournament for each of the respective age groups.

North Shore Mariners’ Sienna Warden was the star of the show taking out the 12 Girls category while Bankstown City Lions’ Liana Calabro showed her worth being crowned Player of the Tournament in the 14 Girls.

Demi Papas continued the trend for the Bankstown City Lions contingent as she took out the 15 Girls Player of the Tournament while Marconi Stallions’ Jessica Curtale wowed the many spectators with her dazzling performances earning her the Player of the Tournament in the 17 Girls.
