Seven teams advance to round 3 of the FFA Cup

Woongarrah Wildcats FC, Dee Why FC, Shoalhaven United, Fernhill FC, Berkeley Vale FC, University of Wollongong and Wollongong United all progressed to round 3 of the FFA Cup after winning their respective round 2 matches.

Central Coast Football Association side Woongarrah Wildcats FC became the first team in NSW to progress to Round 3 of the FFA Cup after defeating Gladesville Hornsby FA’s Macquarie University 5-0 on Tuesday night.

Pluim Park played host to the first FFA Cup match in NSW and goals were on the menu as the Wildcats showed all their class with a convincing 5-0 victory.

Both AJ Henderson and Lachlan Jones stole the show scoring doubles while Kane Woolston chimed in as well that sent the Central Coast based side through to the next round with a date booked against National Premier Leagues 3 NSW Men’s outfit Dulwich Hill.

Fellow Central Coast Football Association side Berkeley Vale triumphed over Holroyd Rangers at Pluim Park with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from former Western Sydney Wanderers player Reece Caira and Jayden Laugwitz.

Wollongong United accounted for the Fairfield Bulls 3-0, Dee Why defeated the Penrith Rovers away from home 4-2, Shoalhaven United proved too strong for Yerrinbol Bargo with a 2-1 while Fernhill FC smashed Bankstown RSL Dragons 7-1.

While finally, Leeton United put up a good fight against the University of Wollongong but went down 4-3.

Round 3 officially kicked off on the 16th of March with the Gerringong Breakers defeating Woy Woy FC 2-1, Coogee United cracked open Lilli Pilli 5-0 while the Hurstville City Minotaurs were far too strong for the Sydney Rangers running riot with a 6-1 victory.
