Parklea SFC embrace women’s World Cup fever with gala day

After a dreary start to the week causing Blacktown City council to close the majority of their grounds, you would be mistaken to think that Morgan Power Reserve was reopened just in time for Saturday’s ‘World Cup Gala Day’ hosted by Parklea SFC.

Teams from U5’s to U7’s represented the likes of reigning champions USA, runner-up The Netherlands, host France and many more.

Parents watched on with anticipation on a day that had it all. Last-ditched tackles, goals and some great sportsmanship.

Before and between games, kids raced off down the hill towards the ALDI MiniRoos shooting target, organised by Football NSW and a 15 metre inflatable obstacle course which proved to be quite popular. While, the showbags stand ensured the kids had their sugar-fix and novelty entertainment.

Parklea SFC’s Assistant Grassroots Football Coordinator, Natalie Buccini was relieved with how the day turned out.

“It was a bit of a worry with the weather leading up to the event but the sun came out, the kids enjoyed themselves and my daughter and her friends spent most of their time down by the inflatable kicking goals.”

At the end of a fantastic day, the kids received a World Cup Gala Day medallion and certificate for their efforts.
