Normanhurst Eagles FC celebrate anniversary and support of AusBid2023

‘Back to Normo Day 2019’ is the most important day on the club calendar for Normanhurst Eagles Football Club to celebrate their existence and vitality as one of north-west Sydney’s largest participating clubs.

The community based club welcomed family and friends to enjoy a festival of football with various activities for those young and old.

While, also showing their support for Australia’s 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Bid and to commemorate the Matildas’ achievements, despite bowing out of the recent tournament.

The day which unfolded at Normanhurst Oval last Saturday 3rd of August, couldn’t have gotten off to a better start with superb weather conditions.

Teams within the club and across divisions competed in their regular season games from Under 6’s up to All Age Men’s and Premier League.

Many watched on to support their teams with some pushing for finals football and others making the most of their remaining games as competitions come to a close.

On the sidelines, a ‘Women’s World Cup’ theme tent organised by club volunteers showcased some of the highlights and mini matches of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

It featured our beloved Matildas and prizes were provided to Normanhurst’s ‘ALDI MiniRoos for Girls’ participants who showed up in their team or Matildas jersey.

The club also awarded prizes to the winners of their tipping competition and presented a World Cup inspired cake.

The significance – for Normanhurst Eagles Football Club was to express their support of the AusBid2023 campaign to #GetOnside and continue the rapid growth of women’s football at the club by empowering current and future female participants.

Football NSW was also present on the day with the ALDI MiniRoos Shooting Target organised by Game Development Officer, Cameron Whitton which provided the opportunity for kids to escape the grasp of their parents and coaches to unleash a few well placed shots at goal. Each participant received prizes for having a go.

Other activities included a football dartboard, jumping castles, bungy trampoline, wacky hoops, cake stall, face painting and a unique beer garden for the adults.
